I know they are not directly linked, but the Trump Administration is getting to be such a shit show I’m wondering if the Special Prosecutor’s involvement is going to slow down or take any of the steam out of the repeal-replace effort.
That seems to me to be why many Republicans are relieved at Mueller’s appointment: now they can get back to (mis)governing.
And I’ve seen a few suggestions that “now that we have a Special Counsel, Congress should drop their investigations.” If nothing else, this ignores the fact that the SC and Congress have different targets: the SC looks for past wrongdoing, Congress looks (or should look) for causes and how to prevent recurrences.
This SHOULD be the case…but Trump just can’t help himself. Today he’s shown that he’d rather expend his energy and time whining about the investigation. This will help keep it in the news, making it more difficult for Congress to do their thing.
