I just got an email from a guy I’ve gone out with a couple times. We went shooting last weekend (I was on the rifle team for a few years in high school and he likes his handguns). He’s got a 9mm that he wanted me to try. Kind of a change from my air rifle days. Anyway, we stay for about an hour, have a decent time, and I do decently well for my first time. (All of my shots were 9’s or better, till my arm started getting tired and shaky.)
So, the email I just got from him stated that the scores were in and that we’d gotten 2nd place (out of 2 though). :dubious: From what I can gather from the site listing the scores, you shoot at targets and send them in to be scored. It’s kind of an informal competition (labelled as a Jack and Jill match, so all the teams are 1 male, 1 female).
My gut reaction to this was a little bit of outrage. I would’ve liked to be informed that he’d be entering us (together, as a team! We’ve only gone out 3 times) in a competition the very first time I’ve ever used anything aside from an air rifle.
So… am I being overly sensitive about this or is it actually a little weird?
I think you may be a little oversensitive. I can see maybe being a little miffed if you’re a very competitive person and it’s important to you to be at your best when you’re in any sort of competition, but miffed would be about the top end of the annoyed scale for something like this IMO.
It sounds like he just thought it would be fun to see how you all stacked up. No big deal.
It’s a paper competition, not a promise of undying love. I’d guess he saw your scores and decided to enter after the fact. It might be ever so slightly rude to not tell you before hand, but it’s certainly not something I’d be offended by.
Well, I did well on my first target (82), but as my arm got shaky and I started doing worse, I only pulled a 16 on my second target. I only even took 3 shots (of 10) at it.
I am starting to agree with everyone though. There’s no real reason to be annoyed. I just found what he did a bit presumptuous, but it’s not really a big deal. I think I was just a little too tired and cranky when I read his email last night.
I know girls (well, people) in general can get a bit crazy at times, so that’s why I wanted to ask about this. I couldn’t tell if it was actually something to be offended by or if my mind was just being illogical.
