Does this soup already have a name?

Today when it came time to have lunch, I looked in the fridge and found a chicken breast, half a red onion, a quantity of fresh mushrooms, sour cream, and some leftover egg noodles. So I browned the chicken breast in some buuter in a dutch oven, removed it and sauteed the onions, along with some quartered mushrooms, a bit of minced garlic, and a sliced carrot (adding mushrooms a bit later so they wouldn’t get shriveled down to nothing). When it had cooked enough, I added chicken broth, along with thyme, parsley and a splash of sherry. Cubed the chicken breast and returned it to the pot. Simmered that until the carrots and chicken were cooked, added salt and pepper to taste, then stirred in a few big dollops of sour cream until they were completely dissolved. Added the egg noodles and let them heat through. It was pretty good. Did I invent something, or (as I suspect) someone else already thought of this a long time ago? Anyone know what it is?

google on Chicken noodle soup.

I don’t know if it has a name, but I do know that I am hungry after reading the OP. I’m gonna bookmark this thread, so that I can reproduce “the soup” after Easter.

Grumble, grumble. Why did I have to give up meat for Lent? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve made essentially the same recipe, only with cream cheese instead of sour cream. Great minds, great minds.

A variation on chicken noodle soup, to be sure.

And it sounds delicious.
