Does unconditional love really exist?

That puts love and death on the list.
Death is a universal experience but not everyone experiences universal love, I would say few people experience it.

What gets in the way? of both receiving and giving? does giving and receiving fall by the wayside, (no giver and/or receiver), just the experience?

I think what gets in the way are the false perceptions 1) that we are fundamentally different and 2) that loving unconditionally costs anything.

A lack of knowledge gets in the way. Not understanding we are spiritual and therefor eternal. There is no death. We are constantly surrounded by unconditional love and remain unaware of it. It is in those moments when we let-go of the posturing and playing the part of humanity that love is able to show us its awesome presence.

Could we take a step back for the sake of those who have different ideas, and say,
we perceive reality differently, and consequently conceptualize different realities? Note, I am not disagreeing with you but want to frame a larger argument. Basically, what characterizes us, which I would say perception or that we both conceptualize. What do we share as humans? I would also add awareness or consciousness to that list. I heard someone say, being aware of our awareness is a uniquely human characteristic.

I am not sure how to answer. I hear you saying you perceive a different reality than I do and I can agree with that. As humans we do share an awareness or consciousness. But this awareness need not be the same awareness. People have different experiences than other people. The more experiences the greater the awareness. This is where knowledge comes in. If you have experienced medical school and become an MD your awareness is greater than one who hasn’t attended medical school. So the more you experience the greater your awareness or consciousness. In effect this means we all perceive a different reality according to our knowledge and experiences. That is why the wise men say not to judge others. I have experienced a spiritual world starting with my NDE and continuing until this day. This world is reality to me and millions of others and no science will ever change that. I would like to add that if science would base its facts on truth only instead of numerous theories it would be easier for them to understand. Every day in this world things are happening that defy scientific laws. You learn more from studying anomalies than you will ever learn from going to school.

I am attempting to build a composite idea of what a self looks like by finding mutually agreed upon components. so it is not that we have different perceptions, or awareness that is important but that each person constructs themselves by perceptions and awareness. We do not get anywhere by emphasizing the differences of those perceptions or awareness.

If there is an unconditional experience (such as love ), how is it we do not all recognize it or experience it? We recognize death (at least physical death) but can not talk about it with the dead person.

I find the basic problem being in constructing an independent self as everyone else does and then we get into problems with the differences. If that constructed self is something we put on like a suit of clothes and then forget to take off, we confuse ourselves as to who we really are.

What is NDE?

Have you ever heard the expression, “looking at the same moon, but from different mountain tops?”

NDE means “Near Death Experience”, which pretty much requires some sort of documentation from a medical professional that you were “Near Death” in the first place. You went to bed at home, either woke up and had a vision or stayed asleep and had a dream, then woke up the next morning at home, all without the presence of trained medical personnel to diagnose your condition, and according to your own words you did not go to a hospital immediately afterwards to check up on your condition, and nowhere have you ever stated that you have the medical training necessary to make a diagnosis. All this information was gotten from you own website.

You did not get this from my site, and it is not an explanation of NDE.

Did so-in previous conversations where you’ve made your claim I’ve provided direct links to your own website to show what really happened in your own words.
Information about Near Death Experiences.

We are all unique individuals, no two of us alike. The reason some don’t recognize it is because they have not experienced it. If you grew up in the city you have never experienced a jungle except through pictures and books. In a way we do confuse ourselves with who we really are. I call that truth. So we are here to learn who we are through experience. I do understand two or more people can observe the same phenomenon yet get different feelings and thoughts from it. We are all unique. Now an NDE is a spiritual experience one has because of a trauma to their body that temporarily cause their heart to stop beating. You will need to read about them and the research being done on this experience. It is an extensive study. Many universities have research them and find them to be real experiences. I will link to one to give you an idea.

Who told you that your heart stopped beating that night, lekatt?

Every time I answer you it is turned and spinned.

It was when I was told I could go into the spirit world and
you can’t do that with a working body.

If you really wish to learn about NDEs, Moon Meyers, I suggest you stick with the link I provided in post #169.

I just want to say that, not to dismiss whatever notions people may have about spiritual and after life stuff, but to offer a bridge to those who aren’t comfortable with that, that there is ample support for unconditional love simply on a philosophical and psychological level.

Yes there is, once you discover one instance of unconditional love then you see them everywhere.

I am glad you provided that link. It talks about Dr. Bruce Grayson which is one of the
NDE researchers. I have a link to some of his work.

That is a link to a Youtube video of a speech, not “some of his work”,… but previous experience tells me that this(video speeches) is usually what you refer to as “hard evidence”.

It just does not matter whether we believe or not and that is in anything.
The only thing that matters is truth, it will win every time.

I spent last week in a retreat. came up with a different take, basically
the self is conditional and all love is unconditional love.
which in a strange way goes along with once you see it, you see it everywhere.

I worked in a hospital as a non-paid professional visitor for about 2 years. I talked to a lot of people near death or dying. the summary I came up with at that time was you die the same way you lived, but there was always the possibility a window opened which provided an entirely different perspective on life in general.

I did reading on NDE at that time, and noted people generally had similar near death experiences but it never really answered, what is death? because basically they did not die. I am more of the opinion now, the mind is capable of so much that we are not aware of. My take for the last twenty years has been to slow down enough to develop that awareness.

Great post and accurate analysis. It would be a terrible world if one didn’t see unconditional love everywhere.
