Does your cat do this? Very odd mannerism.

My male cat loves my bathtub. He sleeps in it, I keep a huge bowl of water in it just for him and we have even noticed him just sitting in it and calmly watching any activity if the door is open. I get his most disgusted-with-humans look if I forget to put the bowl back in and fill it up after I bathe or shower. He loves to come in when I shower and will just sit on the seat or rug and watch. He loves his bath and gets very relaxed about the whole affair, kind of like he is at the spa.

My female kitty (adult cat but steadfastly refuses to grow up) hates water. She makes other-worldly noises at her bath time. She will come sit on the edge of the tub if the male cat is playing in his “tub water” bowl but that is about as close as she will get, thank you very much!

Cats and snowflakes. Not a one alike.

My moggie would jump from one side of the bath to the other when I was in the bath - to and fro, again and again (never once fell in, though I secretly hoped she would misjudge just once, doubtless I would have paid in blood for my laughter…)
Only once did she let her tail dangle in the water, seemingly without noticing - the look on her face was priceless as she slowly pulled her bedraggled tail from the water - the perfect feline double-take.

I think the temperature of the water makes a big difference to a kitty, I once had to clean the cat in the bath after she covered herself in some horrible grease - I fully expected a transformation into the Tasmanian Devil on contact with water, but she just sat in the bottom of the bath (looking slightly icky from licking gunk off her fur) while I sprayed her with the shower-head.
(Nothing looks less dignified than a freshly showered cat!)

my kitty does that. he also jumps in the shower and licks the drops on the bottom of the tub after you are through. if you are in the bath, he likes to sit on the rim and put his tail in the water. sometimes he’ll even come in with you. my cat is…off.

Trouble likes to drink straight from the tub faucet. When I had a transparent shower curtain, and he was much younger, he used to chase the water droplets that ran down the inside. His predecessor, Sam, used to fish my razor, (a disposable that floated) out of the bath every chance he got.

But none of them like to be actually wet…they just didn’t mind getting their feet wet.

Maceo also loves to stick his paws in the water, up to what would be the elbows on a person. I would wiggle my toes underwater and he would try to grab them. By the end of the bath, his appendages would be pretty soaked but his body was all fluffy. It looked hilarious. This thread makes me miss my bathtub.

Zazou always comes into the bathroom with me, and often sticks his little head in while I’m showering. He hasn’t yet divined that part of the showering thing involves water that could get on him, which he doesn’t like any more than any other cat.

What a great name!

My orange cat watches me shower, my gray and white watches me bathe but neither join me. My black cat joins me for my morning pee by taking a tinkle in the sink while I’m on the toilet. I don’t mind him peeing in the sink, at least it’s easily cleaned up, what’s annoying is when he takes longer than I do and I have to wait for him to finish so I can wash my hands.

You must save a fortune on kitty litter!

My cat, too, enjoys poking around the shower stall when I’m done. He also likes to lap up the remaining water droplets. The first time I saw him do this, I assumed the water dish had gone dry so I immediately went out to re-fill it and discovered that it was reasonably full. Well, I thought the water must be in need of replacement if he was drinking my bath water, so I emptied the bowl and re-filled it.

No, he just prefers my bath water. :dubious:

As well, he’ll just sit outside the stall and stare at the drain after I’ve showered. I have yet to figure out why and I doubt that I ever will…

See, I have a hard time imagining this because my cat is terrified of the bathroom. The sound of the loud running water freaks him out.

When I’m in the tub, he will sometimes creep in *very very slowly * and put his paws up onto the edge of the bath. But if my hand splashes, he scrambles out of the bathroom like the vacuum cleaner is after him.

We have a picture of one of my parents’ cats standing in a bathtub with the water about halfway up his legs, though he hasn’t done that in a while. The other one likes to play in the toilet from time to time. You’ll hear loud splashing noises coming from the bathroom, and sure enough, there’s the cat half in the toilet, bashing away at the water with his front paws for reasons known only to him and getting it all over the bathroom. This behaviour also means that checking the toilet seat before sitting down is imperative if one wants to avoid getting wet. A previous family pet enjoyed coming into the shower with people when he was a kitten, but he always stayed at the far end of the tub and grew out of the habit as he reached adulthood.

Unfortunately, no. I have 8 cats, he’s the only one who does it and he only does it occasionally for the morning pee. I’ve considered toilet training them but it’s bad enough when people in your home don’t flush, it’s even worse when they leave little wet paw prints on the seat.
