Does your dog do this?

My dog sniffs the butts of inanimate objects. Or rather inanimate objects with butts,… stuffed animals, figurines, dolls, action figures, etc…
When my son was little, all new toys had to go through the “butt sniff” inspection, even Lego guys! It doesn’t matter what size it is.
He has a system: If the object is in animal form, it gets a butt sniff. If it’s in human form, it gets a crotch sniff THEN a butt sniff. Sometimes he lingers in sniff mode, like he actually found a smell there.
I have an oven mitt that’s painted like a cat, (but still looks pretty much like an oven mitt), the thumb area is the ‘tail’ on the cat. If I’m wearing it, he’ll patiently wait for me to lift the tail so he can ram his nose under it.

I usually don’t advocate using a pet therapist, but this behavior makes me think that there really is a need for them. I am just kidding. Neither of my dogs do that, but they are special in their own unique ways.

That’s hilarious! But my dog did not do this. He would however abnormally crotch sniff so hard that he would often hurt a guy. He would also try humping anything that moved at times. I think he had some sort of inferiority complex and had the need to prove himself.

No, but I do have a stray dog who keeps running away (with which I am fine), but also keep returning (with which I am not so fine).

Last week I lost her in Topeka (I was on my way to see auntie em, understand, and she happened to be hanging outside my car, so I told her to jump in), but this past weekend em and I dropped by the pound (because I felt bad, and because em made me feel bad) to see if someone picked her up before she became a doggypancake.

Someone did. So, feeling even guiltier, I paid the $30 adoption fee for a dog I don’t want (or like, really), just so that she wouldn’t end up dead by lack of adoption.

Now, back in my house in my town, I keep hoping that she runs away again. That way it’ll only be me, my real dog, auntie em’s lab rat she left here, and my two cats.

Personally, I’d much rather have your dog and his “fetish”. Makes for a better way to greet guests.
