Doesn't Santa ever crave a Pepsi?

It’s Christmas time again and of course that means it’s time for little old ladies wearing gaudy sweaters. It also means lots of ads featuring Santa Claus swilling Coca-Cola. Why is that he is always in Coke ads? Has he ever been featured in any other ads for soft drinks?

I’m sure that Pepsi used Santa in its advertising; it’s just that Coke ads are better known.

Also, remember, at the time Coke started iconicizing Santa with a Coke, Pepsi was marketing itself differently. It was the bargain cola.

In the 2007 film that told his story, Fred Claus crashed his brother’s sleigh into an old-fashioned-looking billboard depicting Santa with a Pepsi, so Pepsi must have used Santa as a spokesperson in the past.

Unless Pepsi is really strong, Santa isn’t craving it. Coke is addicting.

Everybody else: Events depicted in the movie Fred Claus (2007) do not necessarily reflect historical accuracy.

You didn’t need to spoiler that- everyone knows that the real Santa Claus had no heir apparent, as his unintentional death at the hands of Scott Calvin clearly showed.

Coke ads are responsible for giving us the iconic, jolly Santa most Americans are familiar with; he originated in Coke advertisements. So, to a certain extent, if Pepsi used the same imagery, they’d be indirectly advertising for Coke. Probly smarter not to do that.

I mean, um, not.

An exclusive contract, obviously.

In Sweden santa drinks Julmust.
Something that apparently makes the Coke execs loose sleep.

“In Sweden, julmust outsells Coca-Cola during the Christmas season; in fact, the consumption of Coca-Cola drops by as much as 50% over Christmas”

Coke and Santa.

Those polar bears have orders to kill Santa if he switchs brands.

I live in Atlanta. What IS this Pepsi of which you speak???

His mother wouldn’t let him have a Pepsi. She thought he was on drugs. All he wanted was a Pepsi, but she said normal people don’t act like that. All he wanted was a Pepsi. Just one Pepsi. And she wouldn’t give it to him.

My mother is a dedicated Pepsi drinker, and won’t doesn’t drink milk at all.

Growing up, we always left Pepsi and cookies for Santa Claus. I figured it all out pretty quick.
