So, my adorable Weenie ate half a now & later (taffy) and has been trying to throw it up all morning. Generally when dogs eat something they don’t like, they just throw it up and move on, as has been my experience. But is taffy a particular danger for getting caught in the intestines?
Taffy (salt water) is basically sugar, corn syrup, salt water, & flavorings. Molasses taffy is sugar, condensed milk, salt, and molasses for the flavorings. None of those should be much of a problem for a dog – they should digest easily.
Are you sure it isn’t just stuck in your dogs’ throat?
There is no salt water in salt water taffy. It got that name when a candy story on the New Jersey coast flooded years ago. The owner of the store changed the name of the store to Salt Water Candies and his specialty, hand made taffy, carried on the name. It was mentioned on the Food Network show Unwrapped when they did a bit about taffy and how it’s made.
If it doesn’t fully digest it should have no trouble being “returned” later.
