This evening while my sister-in-law was walking her Australian shepherd Sadie, a pit bull attacked and ripped Sadie’s chest open. She is in triage right now, but it doesn’t look good.
I’m sorry.
Was the pit bull just running loose?
Don’t have that info yet.
Oh crap, that is so horrible. I am sending good thoughts.
She is in stable condition. They are going to sew her chest back on to her body later tonight.
I think you need to change the setting for the image to “everyone” instead of “friends” (or friend all of us).
I’m so sorry to hear about Sadie. I hope she pulls through.
How horrible! I’m so sorry.
Good luck for Sadie’s recovery. Vet’s can do great things, and dogs are so resilient. My Frank seems happy and unfazed following his amputation after my other dogs attacked him.

Apparently the dog was on a leash but pulled loosed to attack Sadie.
I am so sorry, I hope she is doing well. I’m very sad to hear about this. Please keep us posted.
Ugh. In that case, I hope the authorities are involved.
How is Sadie today?
I’m sorry. I hope Sadie and your sister recover well. Good luck!
And I agree, the authorities should be called in.
Having been the owner of two Aussies, this makes me sad. They are gentle dogs, smart and active.
Sadie is doing o.k. so far. The owner of the dog has given my sis-in-law $2200 so far, but more will be needed…so more she will pay.
Since a cousin started working with a vet and sharing stories, I’ve been shocked by how massively damaged animals can be, receive much less intensive treatment than a human would, and heal up just fine. I had a cat that somehow managed to rip his whole leg open so that I could watch the muscle tissue sliding around. I figured he’d need dozens of stitches. Vet just stuck him in a cage for a couple of weeks to minimize his motion, it healed up with no scar. Humans–apparently–are the weaklings of the animal kingdom.
Yep. I ran over my old corgi (long ago now) and ruptured his spleen. They removed it and he was good as new in a week.
I’m glad Sadie is doing well.
Please make sure your sister files a police report. I’m not suggesting the other dog needs to be destroyed (I don’t know its history), but animal control needs to make an assessment and recommendation for how it’s managed. Is the yard secure, should it be walked with a muzzle on, and that sort of thing. Those measures will protect other people and dogs, and also that dog, by minimizing its capacity to harm.
How’s Sadie doing today?

Ugh, sorry to hear that. My boy Bowery was attacked in a dog run two years ago, and in my rush to get him to the nearest vet I didn’t get the lady’s information. Never saw her again, of course, but $1,300 later at least he was doing fine.
