why do dogs jump up?
They’re trying to tell us that it was dogs, not humans, who invented basketball.
But so far we don’t believe them.
Dogs are pack animals. They rely upon face to face communication. They jump up on people to try to get face time.
'Cause they’re good boys! Yes! Such good boys! Do they want a treat? Yes! They want a treat! Yes!
I always pegged it on exuberance.
As an aside some breeds are more prone to jumping up than others. You’ll be hard pressed to find a German Shepherd that jumps up (I have grown nearly my entire life with German Shepherds and they almost never do this…very rare compared to some breed [like Jack Russell Terriers] that seem to jump up constantly). While a German Shepherd can certainly be exuberant they are a bit more reserved than many other breeds.
i have a jack russell (name should be “pain in the ass”). one night as we were taking care of the dinner dishes i glanced into the dining room to see he had jumped up onto the table and finished off the roast. the poor little chihuahua sat on the floor looking pissed off that it wasn’t fair.
Not an answer to the jumping dog thing, and not even an original question, but one seen in cartoon once…
Why do dogs have black lips?
Never had a satisfactory answer to that one.
