Really? As big as an adult man’s? We had a male weimaraner (“fixed”) who was 120lbs. (We rescued him at about 1.5 years. He wasn’t neutered, but that was our first order of business.) His penis (the lipstick looking part) was…well about the size of a tube of lipstick. Maybe slightly longer. The color part, not the tube. I’ve never seen a dog’s penis bigger than that. And his balls were HUGE. But that’s another thing. To be fair, that dog never tried to hump me or anyone else, so maybe “extended pink penis” does not translate into “aroused.” If not, I’ve never seen an aroused male dog, because that’s as big as I’ve seen them. And I’ve been around a lot of dogs.
This, to me, is dramatically differerant than an aroused man’s penis. But maybe my guys have just been unusally well hung? Anyway, I’d like more info on this.
I have an intact male dog who’s 4 and he doesn’t hump anything. He tried humping my arm (I was doing pilates) once when he was a puppy and he got such a stern talking to that he’s never tried it since. It’s possible that he humps things when I’m at work; however, I’ve never found the tell-tale balled up dog blanket, or disheveled looking stuffed animal, so not ALL intact male dogs hump things. Actually, he’s a little over 18 months now, since he was born in Nov. or Dec. 2005. I probably never know if he’s going to turn into Ron Jeremy Jr. or if he’ll be more like **Alice’s ** pet, as he’ll be getting snipped soon.
BMax, I’d like to discourage you from breeding him. I have nothing against the breed, I have a pit mix myself, however the breed is very much misunderstood and should only be owned by people who know how to train and can control these dogs and take the proper precautions. More and more cities/counties are enacting breed specific legislation against this breed and other breeds like it. Your puppies could eventually be outlawed, if their new owners aren’t commited to them they could end up put to sleep before their time. Also, if you are not the owner of the bitch you may have no control over what happens to the pups and they could end up going to the very wrong sort of people. I understand the desire to have an offspring off a good dog but there are no guarantees a pup will be anything like the parent. Your best bet for another dog is to look for a good breeder, do temperament evaluations on prospective pups and train you pup well.
Preach on, brotha. I love, love, love pits, and bully breeds in general, but unless you’re a pro-level breeder with some proven reason to reproduce that particular dog (ie conformation, working title, so on) there is no reason to put another litter of random-bred pit bulls in the world. I understand you love your dog, but you will not find a reputable breeder who would be interested in breeding their quality bitch to your untested dog, meaning that when and if you do find someone willing to breed, those pups are not going to excellent homes, and most will eventually find their way to the pound.
Hijack aside, like alice_in_wonderland I have an adult intact dog who never shows sexual displays. He’s a very large, very “masculine” dog, of a very high-drive breed. He’s three and a half, and I’ve yet to ever see him hump anything, ever, with the sole exception of a (spayed) pit bull bitch that he plays with. They run around like maniacs for an hour and when they’ve about run out of momentum he’ll start dominance-mounting. He doesn’t bust out the goods, though, it’s just a display. I’ve never seen him with an actual erection or ejaculate. Friends with the same breed used to give me dire warnings about their intact male dogs’ insatiable mounting of furniture and so on, but we’ve luckily escaped that particular behavior.
Back to BMax, although my dog is intact, a “high-dollar” rare breed, and one of the better pedigreed males in the US, I would never even remotely consider breeding him because the idea of finding 15+ good lifetime homes for extremely high-caliber large game hunting dog pups makes me a little queasy.
