I guess it doesn’t matter who is in control of the executive branch of government. Seems like they all feel they have the right to use police power to intimidate dissenting opinion. As much as I disagree with those protesting, it makes me nauseous to think that R’s were so upset about Lois Lerner and the IRS, then the turn around and do the same thing they were complaining about. It doesn’t come as a surprise, but just massive disappointment. I might hate your opinion, but I sure as hell believe you have the right to hold it and protest against what you believe is wrong. There’s a small farm out in the country calling my name. Perhaps that’ll be far enough away from these crazy people.
I’ve written my share of “Donald Trump is a disaster” Facebook posts. How’s the wifi at Gitmo?
This situation does have the potential for a debate, but as presented, it appears to be more of a topic for The BBQ Pit.
Sounds like fun! They probably still have my file from when I commie-trolled my scoutmaster, Chicago FBI’s Special Agent in Charge. Off to make mischief!
I’ve recently noticed that some big fat guy with orange hair has been regularly posting anti-American rants on Twitter. Someone should look into that.
Are they targeting protesters, or are they targeting AntiFa types who set out with the goal to engage in criminal behavior (assault, property damage, disorderly conduct, etc).
I"m assuming they are targeting the latter, but I’m sure the goal is also to intimidate all protesters. The way they sought the IP addresses of anyone who visited the disruptJ20 site is pretty chilling. I don’t recall the Obama admin requesting the IP addresses of everyone who visited a website that talked about Obama being a Muslim terrorist or anything like that.
Hopefully the judge will see the implications and turn them down.
First they take on the grim horror of sharia law, and now they go after the black terror of antifas! These people know no fear! Or much of anything else, far as that goes.
The warrant is related to an earlier one that sought a bunch of similar information from the host of a website.
The general story is that 200 people were arrested for smashing windows during Trumps inauguration. The vast majority of them are not pleading out, so there are going to be trials. The government appears to be seeking evidence that various defendants engaged in planning for a riot using various websites and so on, including this Facebook group. Many of the defendants claim they just happened to be caught up in this large riot of masked individuals who were literally running zig-zag through streets downtown for the better part of an hour while wearing masks etc.
Others are criticizing the warrants as being overbroad, such that people who used the websites but were not arrested could have their identities and a good about of personally identifiable information collected.
I don’t recall precisely what happened with the first controversial warrant, I think the government ended up withdrawing it, saying they didn’t actually need the sought information. There was a thread about it somewhere.
