Dollhouse premier - Feb 13, 2009

Now that’s a solid rebuttal. He really was poor, and Angel ended up being my favorite Whedon show.

Based on my reading of the links in post 125, I think this episode was the second one they ever shot. Seems that they shot a pilot, decided it didn’t work, shut down production for two weeks to rewrite it as the episode we just saw, then shot that.

Wow am I dense. I never really pay attention to the names of actors or actresses so I was sitting there thinking “Huh she looks kinda like faith sometimes…” during the show and never put two and two together.

Wow, I guess I’m way off then. I thought this was the very* last *thing they shot.

Am I wrong then?

I can’t tell Glau and Dushku apart- Joss clearly has a “thing” for that sort of sulky, pouty, slim, dark brunettes.

And, if a company could invent a machine that would clear memories and input skills and a personality, they coudl sell it to the gov’t for billions and billions, far more than renting out what amounts to a super-high-class-GFE-callgirl for a weekend.

And, clearly the Dollhouse folks have to get the word of by word-of-mouth, to a lot of mouths, thus the Gov’t knows full well what’s going on.

It was good, but not great. True, FanBoys think it is beyond great, but note that all this greatness couldn’t keep it on TV, and the movie just did OK, no thoughts of making a sequel.

Joss has said that he got the idea while having lunch with Eliza. She said something on the order of “Acting is pretty tough… I have to change who I am and what I know for every part, and what I did last week doesn’t have anything to do with what I do this week; every director gets to completely recreate me as a person.”
