I had purchased a domain name back in November and then had the site hosted on a service. I tried to stop the service but they kept telling me that I owed them more money so I just ignored them and told them to go to hell, they aren’t getting more of my money. My question is, do I still have the right to that domain? When I look under WHOIS, it still has my name and everything. I paid for the name myself. If I choose to put the site back up and go with another company, will there be a problem?

I registed it through network solutions. I don’t understand all that DNS stuff. Do I tell them who to point it to?

There are two different processes at work here: name registration and web hosting. If you went through two different companies, then there should be no problem; just find a new web hosting company. They’ll know just what to do.

On the other hand, if there was one company that both registered the name and hosted the site for you, they may figure (perhaps rightly) that you don’t own it anymore and may demand that you pay up before they’ll ‘release’ it.
