Is this kind of stupid or is it just me? How many people opt out of delivery from Dominos? Why not just increase prices? “Oh, that’ll be $10.99 plus $1.00 for delivery.”

Hmmm, I always thought Dominos always charged for delivery. In fact, I thought most places did. I used to work at a Pizza shop and we always charged a buck, unless it was a huge order, in which case, it was something like ten percent (we’re talking 10 pies +). Having worked at one of these places, I always give a good tip anyway, but I always figured that there were delivery charges.
I used to get Domino’s delivered to my work. One day, I decided to go pick it up myself, and it was about $1.50 cheaper. And this was about 10 years ago…

I ranted about this in the Pit a few months ago. And got my ass chewed.
It rankles me because they built their entire business on fast free delivery. Thus, I expect them to quote me a price that includes delivery. Even if they inflate the price to cover the cost.
It is most irritating to hear about their $9.99 special and order accordingly, and then have the total be $12 and change.
See, this wouldn’t have happened if Monaghan hadn’t sold the company…
…oh well, my law education had to be financed somehow. 
Papa John’s also recently started charging for delivery. Unless you order on the web.
I’m surprised its taken this long. When I was working there about 10 years ago, they started having low priced carry-out only specials. We had many upset customers when they were told of the limitations - “Don’t you have FREE delivery!?!” That’s the way I felt about it too (which I explained) but told them I couldn’t do anything about it.
