Automatic Lover by Dee D Jackson.
Well, there was an ancient concept album called Intergalactic Touring Band (cross of progressive rock and SF) that had a number of cuts that would qualify – Robot Saleman (obviously) and Silver Lady (which I think might have been about an intelligent starship, which would be close enough).
Curiously, I see that the album is back in print on Amazon – I may have to order it and relive my geeky college days.
Dammit, dammit, dammit! I was so close to being the first to post a slew of Kraftwerk songs…

I mean MARVEL comics :smack:
Oooh…
There’s that Foo Fighters songs on the 1st X Files CD.
Down In the Park

“Mechanical Man”, Command & Conquer OST
Hmmm… for the funk/fusion contributions:
Digital Display by Ready for the World (1985)
Electric Lady by Con Funk Shun (1977)
Horsefeathers!
The character in the comics bears no resemblence whatsoever to the character described in the song.
I have to agree. If Black Sabbath meant for the song to be about the superhero Iron man, they must have never read the comic before writing the song.
Guys, I’m serious, I swear on my mothers good name that read that somewhere…I’ll find it…I love a quest:)
Wizard magazine, issue no. 61, 1996…
letters page…
To Jimmy-boy,
Black sabbath wrote a really cool song in the early '70s entitled “Iron Man.” This song rules, and I was wodering if the Iron man comic character was the basis for this song or if Ozzie Osbourne was just drunk again?
Reply…
Pobably both. Marvels Iron man was indeed the inspiration for the song and Ozzie was probably tanked ( or something ) when he wrote it . However, it should be noted that Mr. Osbourne has recently switched to healthier life style and no longer imbibes the demon rum or any other distilled spirits.
Whoa…flashback.
And as I recall, Gillian Anderson (Yeah, the same one) once did a music video called “Extremis” that featured a woman fantasizing about an android.
NoClueBoy: Down in the Park was originally done by Gary Numan. The Foo Fighters just released a very bad cover of it…
I liked it. No accounting for taste, is there?
What album did Numan do it on? I’d like to hear it.
I like both… Numan’s version is on Replicas. A fine album in it’s own right.
