Soundtrack for a Robot War—suggestions?

In my quest to burn out my iPod with horrifying custom playlists, I’ve got a new soundtrack mix started—songs for a Robot War.

That is, songs thematically appropriate for a war with robots, between robots, or heavily involving robots. Steam belching automata would also qualify.

The appeal, of course, is completely obvious. Now, I’ve already got a few songs chosen, as follows, but I’m always up for a few more. Any suggestions?

Track listing at present:

Machine Soldier—Yoko Kanno
Trust Me—Terminator 2 soundtrack
Dumb—Garbage
Helicopter Mayhem—John Murphy
Ghost in The Shell—GITS Megatech Body
Rock Shop—Robocop soundtrack
Decepticons—Transformers score
Scorponok—(ibid)
Inner Universe—Origa
Konoko Chase—Oni soundtrack
Coro—Appleseed soundtrack
Autobots Inferior—DrSmoov & Soundwave
Robots Are Our Friends

…plus one or two oddly esoteric tracks.

So, anything else I should look up?

Rush - The Body Electric

Kraftwerk Man Machine

Black Sabbath Iron Man

Ethel Merman ?

For comedy relief, there’s always James Kochalka Superstar’s Monkey versus Robot.

For a sentimental introduction, perhaps as the incident that sparked the war in the first place, how about Grandaddy’s Jed the Humanoid. A sad tale in the history of robot-human relations.

Definitely Slaughter in Robot Village by FM

  • Mr. Roboto* by Styx

Also All Along the Watchtower (Hendrix version) for a Battlestar Galactica shoutout.

Devo - Mechanical Man

Heck, there are probably quite a few Devo tracks that come close.

No love for Stan Bush?

I don’t know if it’s still possible to track them down, but some of the tracks from John Bergin’s Music for Hammering are appropriate, such as The Rust of Mars.

If mecha-appropriate music counts, there’s Stronger Than All and Riders of the Storm by Hammerfall. And the song Through the Fire and the Flames by Dragonforce has become inextricably linked to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan in my mind, thanks to a certain AMV.

Robot Rebellion - I don’t know the actual name of the song used, but anything that starts out “and in actual news today, the human race was doomed to extinction as the robot revolt turned violent” qualifies.

Flight of the Conchords - The Humans Are Dead

I think that line was sampled from Futurama, the music and lyrics are here.

Strangely enough for a robot war, nothing from this album seems appropriate, it’s too… human.

Both sound tracks for the transformers movie’s

Declan

The collected works of the Protomen.

The Flaming Lips’ Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Part 1 or even One More Robot might qualify. Especially if you accept “Jed the Humanoid” mentioned upthread… I always thought Grandaddy’s “The Sophtware Slump” and the Flaming Lips’ “Yoshimi” were (thematically and musically) a single album recorded by two different bands.

Oh, sure, they’re just robots. No big loss, eh? Let’s crank up the tunes!

It’s people like you what cause unrest.

But if you have to set it to music, God Monkey Robot, by The Apparitions.

New Divide - Linkin Park
Ready Steady Go - Paul Oakenfold
Funky Shit - The Prodigy
Rock is Dead" by Marilyn Manson
Spybreak! - Propellerheads
Bad Blood - Ministry
Clubbed to Death (Kurayamino Mix) - Rob D
Mindfields - The Prodigy
Dragula (Hot Rod Herman Remix) - Rob Zombie
Du Hast - Rammstein
Wake Up - Rage Against the Machine
Trip Like I Do - Filter and The Crystal Method
March of the Pigs - Nine Inch Nails
Weapons of Mass Distortion - The Crystal Method
Nothing - Stabbing Westward
Boom (Crystal Method Remix) - P.O.D.
Iron Man - Black Sabbath

What makes you think I’m a person causing unrest, fleeesh creatur—

Er, by that I mean, I actually stumbled across another song that’d work, just by chance—Laibach’s B Mashina.

As it was used in an equally impressive and terrifying movie trailer.
