Music for Supersoldier Programs?

I’ve been in the odd mood to compile another weird soundtrack-mix. Music for Supersoldiers, and related programs.

Yep, I’m looking for songs with Supersoldier-related lyrics, themes, or even appropriately chilling bombast.

So far, I’ve got…

[ul]
[li]Super Trouper—Abba (bad joke. sorry.)[/li][li]Iron Man—Black Sabbath[/li][li]Hymn of the Immortal Warriors—Manowar[/li][li]Robocop Theme[/li][/ul]

*I’d have included the 2011 “Captain America” theme if I could remember what it sounded like. Or even that one existed. If your legendary iconic superhero’s theme is less memorable than internet remixes of a furry Techno album track, you’ve got a problem.

Anyway, those are my picks, but I’d love to hear yours. Anyone care to pitch in?

Gustav Holst - Mars, the Bringer of War

White Zombie - More Human Than Human

Disturbed - Indestructible

James Horner - Charging Fort Wagner from the Glory soundtrack

Alice in Chains - Rooster

Godsmack - Straight Out of Line

R.E.M. - Orange Crush. Yeah it’s anti-war, but it’s got a great beat and I can dance to it.

The Becoming–Nine Inch Nails

Blue Oyster Cult - Veteran of the Psychic Wars
Manfred Mann - Demolition Man

Staff Sergeant Barry Sadler - Ballad Of The Green Berets

What, like the Dawn of War 2 soundtrack?

Or how about The Ultramarines Soundtrack?

For awesome atmosphericness the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Soundtrack always puts me in a “Tampering with the genetic future of mankind” mood.

I’d take a different tack, and play them Mariah Carey on a constant loop.

You’re all wrong and stupid.

The answer is “Orgasmatron” by Motorhead.

You’re A Soldier, Husker Du.

War Pimp Renaissance, Lard.

Hero, Ministry.

War Pigs, Black Sabbath.

Die For Oil, Jello Biafra.

An assortment of bombast, contemplative, and getting-things-done music, for the Supersoldier-about-town!

Hymn to Red October (The Hunt for Red October - Basil Poledouris)
Barra Barra / Mogadishu Blues (Black Hawk Down - Hans Zimmer)
Anvil of Crom / Riddle of Steel - Riders of Doom (Conan - Basil Poledouris)
Sorrow (Gladiator - Lisa Gerrard/Klaus Badelt)
Light and Shadow (1492 - Vangelis)
The Horns of Hell (13th Warrior - Jerry Goldsmith)
Bladerunner (end theme - Vangelis)
Prophecy Theme (Dune - Brian Eno)

and last but not least…
Duke Nukem theme (Megadeth) &
The thing I Hate (Stabbing Westward) (both from Duke Nukem: Time to Kill)

We Are Scientists - Super Soldiers

There is Star Spangled Man.

Queen did a few songs on the Highlander soundtrack…

Metallica S&M (the band and the San Fran Orchestra teamup for much win), but especially “Wherever I May Roam”, “Enter Sandman” for a kick-ass entrance theme, and “No Leaf Clover.” Aw hell, any of them.

The Firebird Suite - Infernal Dance of King Kashche

Huh…Tblue, by any chance, are you me? Those are most of my personal favorites, and just the ones I would suggest for this sort of thing.

Well, those plus Vangelis’ Titans, now that I think about it.

And maybe Universal Soldier, for the laughs.

I’d go for the COnan theme and the signature RIders of Doom them from COnan the Barbarian. Not quite as futury as you might be looking at, but that’s OK: you want to inspire your future soldier with the remote possibility they could be as ballsily manly as COnan.

Sure, they won’t measure up. But we all have our heroes.
