What music fills you with a spirit of invincibility, allowing you to face any terror with a rakish grin and unfazed bravado?
Gates of Delirium - Yes
Oh Fortuna - Carl Orff
Toccata & Fugue - Bach
Princes of the Universe - Queen

Gates of Delirium - Yes
Oh Fortuna - Carl Orff
Toccata & Fugue - Bach
Princes of the Universe - Queen
Children of the Sun - Billy Thorpe
“Hair of the Dog”- Nazareth
tough question…I guess “thunderstruck” by AC/DC comes to mind…but that’s a first thought.
“You Got The Touch” and “Dare” from the soundtrack to Transformers: The Motion Picture.
Ok. So I am a nerd. Sue me.
A hearty second on Bippy’s “Princes of the Universe.”
Also:
Dropkick Murphys - “The Gauntlet”
Rush - “Mission”
Sepultura - “Refuse/Resist”
I can testify that Garbage - “Tempation Waits” does not make your car invincible against fence posts.
For some reason, Foo Fighter’s “Everlong” does it for me…
“WAR MACHINE” - KISS
Won’t Get Fooled Again by The Who. It only works if it’s really, really loud, though.
Hell’s Bells, AC/DC.
Freebird, Lynyrd Skynyrd
Comfortably Numb, Pink Floyd.
Loreena McKennit’s MARRAKECH NIGHT MARKET and several Russian folk melodies (particularly Meadowlands and selections from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheharezade) work for me, and of course Oh Fortuna. I find it’s much easier, though, to wear earplugs and blast “Shake Your Bootie” as sung on The Brady Bunch Variety Hour at my enemies.
Ahhh… yes. Stan Bush’s contributions to the soundtrack. Still makes me want to yell out, “Hell yeah, Buddy!” when The Touch plays just as Hot Rod changes into Rodimus Prime.
Speaking of nerd: when I was in high school, I used those two songs to get the energy going when I was out running, practicing for soccer. Also, I used to pull up to people at the stop lights, roll down my window, and blast Lion’s version of the Transformer’s theme. (You know: the heavy beat for a few seconds before they scream, “TRANSFORMERS!”)
Good God. I wonder how the hell I ever got married.
Rush - Mission, Marathon, and Jacobs Ladder and more… I Love RUSH!!
Iron Maiden - The Trooper and Losfer Words (Big Orra)
Queen… I prefer Gimme the Prize and Hammer to Fall
Nazareth - Hair of the Dog amen, brother!
Ted Nugent - Stranglehold
Molly Hatchett - Flirtin’ with Disaster
Accept - Balls to the Wall
AC-DC - D.T.
Thin Lizzy - Do Anything You Want To
that’s a LOT of songs… I must feel invincible a LOT! and there are more… these just sprang to mind
Add me to the geek list. “The Touch.” used to work for me too.
My top three right now:
“My Hero” by the foo fighters
the two towers trailer music by Clint Mansell off of the Requiem For a Dream soundtrack
“Lose Yourself” by Eminem. It’s cheesy, but it works.
verbenabeast quoted:
Normally I wouldn’t press the issue, verbenabeast, but you should know I am a sister , not a brother.
(I would have let that one go, but verbenabeast knows someone who had a similar misconception floating around about his or her gender, and was very sympathetic to the sensitivity of the subject)
Oh and another thing:
Led Zeppelin “Immigrant Song”
Electioneering by Radiohead. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this is the perfect rock song.
I’m asking for a flaming, aren’t I?
Peter Gabriel “Security” (which MUST be listened to from start to finish, LOUD!!
and
Any Ramones record (LOUD!!)
unclviny
Rainy Days and Mondays Always Get Me Down
or
Have You Ever Been Mellow?
TURN IT UP!!!
Iron Man by Black Sabbath does it to me…
As does the craptacular techno song Sandstorm by Darude.
Mea Culpa, Psalex!!
I was going for the whole Testify! vibe, and did the same thing to you that I myself was crying about not a month ago…
Preach it, Sistah!
Springsteen’s Born To Run
