Sure he’s replaceable.
There’s plenty of guys out there who are prepared to say bigoted things about Finns, and Swedes, and Europeans, and First Nations, and women, and French Canadians.

Exactly.
Or as Forrest Gump says, “stupid is as stupid does”. To try and say that he wasn’t singling out immigrants is laughable - and he has a long enough history as a xenophobe that it seems to be in character.
I am still in utter disbelief that he was so high on the list of greatest Canadians - and also I’m not.
Now they can finally put the Canadian that burned down the White House on that list!
So, here we go. First Saturday night game in 38 years without Don.
Hey Guin, it’s Leafs and Penguins. No Syd, but then again no Marner. And the Leafs are choosing to start a rookie in net!
Ron MacLean. Wow. Tearing up.
If you’re going to show your support of Don Cherry, must you do so doing the Hockey Fights Cancer segment? Seriously, they’re showing people holding up their signs showing “I Fight For ___”, and at one point, some jagoff has to jump in front with a sign saying, “I Support Don Cherry”.
If you want to show support for the old geezer, fine. But that’s PROBABLY not the best time, to put it mildly.
Well, looks like it’s working in our favor.

I don’t dislike the Penguins. It’s impossible to not like Mario, or The Flower, or Syd.
How can one possibly hate Bobby Orr, or Wayne Gretzky, or Phil Esposito. I like hockey. Bring it on.
I mean, it was a public voting system.
The results were incredibly stupid. You could maybe defend half of the top ten for being there and the number one choice was the wrong one (Tommy Douglas, often called the “Father of medicare” though that wildly simplifies the truth.) Cherry, however, was incredibly absurd. He isn’t one of the ten most important people in the history of Canadian HOCKEY.
