Donald Trump announces presidential run

Trump makes an appeal to ethnic hatred, and now he’s the republican frontrunner. That pretty much says it all.

No, he’s just refusing to kowtow to political correctness of the sort that demands we turn a blind eye to any and all wrongful behavior coming from a politically protected group. I know a fair number of Hispanic people. Some of them are even here illegally. I like them very much and they like me. What I don’t like is an administration that allows criminals from south of the border to come flooding into the country unchecked, oftentimes over and over again. That’s what I don’t like and it’s what Donald Trump doesn’t like. It’s also what a great many people in this country don’t like, and that’s why Trump is the Republican frontrunner.

That’s probably why he has trouble getting his foot out of there.

I’ll be more sympathetic to this assessment as soon as one 'build-a-fencer" discusses anything an inch below the surface of the issue. What’s the plan beyond building the fence? Who picks up the slack for all the jobs the undocumented do to help make this country run? And that’s just one of the questions.

Until someone addresses these realities, I see no reason to extend the benefit of the doubt.

Of course since the Americans in the administration do not like that too it makes one wonder why is that Trump is trying to claim his dislike is unique.

As shown before when Trump shows to be clueless about how the economy is doing regarding the unemployment and claiming that our gross domestic product was below zero, it shows an immaturity and ignorance that tells all that it is good that he will not be the nominee.

And they’re good questions. I have a hard time imagining how anyone could even begin to address them in today’s political and media climate without being immediately shouted down with claims of racism, but still they’re good questions. And Trump’s a good candidate to begin trying to address these issues because he’s not backing down to political correctness and false accusations of racism. But before any realistic headway can be made in coming up with plans to deal with these issues it’s necessary first to get to the point where we can even discuss them, and that’s where Trump is now. First we have to get the dialog to the point where we can admit there are problems, then we can begin discussions on how to deal with them.

So you’re content then to call them racists merely for pointing out and getting people to acknowledge that these problems exist? Doesn’t seem like a viable metric to me. Again, we need to acknowledge that there is a problem before we can discuss viable ways of dealing with it, and sadly we’re nowhere near accomplishing even that.

I’ll be interested to see the first polling on whether Trump’s McCain remarks actually hurt him, or if his combover Teflon carries him through.

And as a Hispanic I’m really glad that Trump is being seen as a naive troglodyte.

EVERYONE will go back to discussing the Trump candidacy.

Any more personal attacks, stupid partisan bashing, or other off-topic remarks are going to get Warnings.

And as a non-Hispanic I’m overjoyed that Trump is crushing the GOP’s chances with that demographic for a generation. I receive all of the benefits and few of the costs of his clownish race-baiting (though I worry a little for my friends).

I’m not proud of my glee, just reporting it. Also, I find the success of his candidacy interesting, though I’d happily offer 10:1 odds for any sucker who thinks he can win the GOP nomination, if logistically convenient. Trump has 20:1 odds at Paddy-power: sounds like a good deal for Trump skeptics.

Trump is a metric for a few of the occupants inside the GOP woodwork.

Do you plan to move this to Cafe Society, or will a newer, even more frivolous forum be created for it?

I ask merely for information.

No one, Trump included, is being prevented from discussing the more complicated aspects of undocumented immigration. In fact, the reason for ridicule is that Trump et al ONLY discuss the issue in the simplest, most inflammatory terms. And if they can’t discuss it any other way, they’re going to have to live with the racism label, because there aren’t a lot of other excuses for such simplistic reasoning.

Something I saw I thought was accurate and apt:

Not too far off the mark, at that.

It is very possible his surprisingly tasteless remarks were part of a meticulous campaign strategy; and that he could only bring himself to utter them in order to detach the Launch Escape System of the past GOP baggage.
One need scarcely admire Mr. Obama to notice that many of his detractors — who form a large body of U.S. opinion — are not only deranged, but form the very epitome of ressentiment; many of these, however unfairly ( not that that would bother them ) will feel hostility to those who competed with him and lost, thereby letting him in to Destroy the Republic.
Mrs Palin gets a pass from them, not merely from sexist reasons of being a woman ( = morally superior ) who speaks truth to power, since her beliefs and faith in America not only resonate with them, but are part of the American Experience. About Mr. McCain they are not so sure — which goes for the rest of the buttoned-down GOP gang. They not only want things to remain the same, they want radical change at the same time, and party careerists and bureaucrats aren’t doing it for them any more.

America, and the world, is in a course for mass populism ( which is the very essence of democracy ), and if a man can step forward who articulates the national will, and brutally dismisses critics to the cheers of the audience, he can rule.

However, I must say that Mr. McCain’s undoubted past heroism in no way qualifies him for power. Otherwise all sorts of lunatics and dimwits are equally qualified.

Palin — Trump 2016 !

No no no. Trump - Coulter 2016!

And naturally a victory for such a man could be seen as a triumph of the will of the people. After all, surely a strong leader uniting the country in a common vision can only be a good thing.

In Sharknado 3: Oh HELL No!, the President is played by Mark Cuban, and the Vice President is played by … Ann Coulter.

Michelle Bachmann plays herself. No exaggeration required.
