I wonder if Trump has noticed yet that it’s the “tolerance and free speech crowd” who’s often the most intolerant of and eager to stifle the speech of anyone who doesn’t agree with it? It would be fun watching him make a national issue of that.

No one here has tried to stifle Trumps speech because frankly no one here has the resources to even attempt to do so.
Just because someone makes an obviously false statement does not automatically prevent others from pointing out that the statement is a lie and that person is an idiot for saying it in the first place or has some ulterior motive (in Trumps case no doubt it’s publicity for The Apprentice).
Tolerance and free speech crowd? I’m the most intolerant person I know. If I had my way, people like Donald Trump who pass of complete and total lies as honest questions, and people like you who offer excuses for a lack of any basic knowledge as if a working adult were some kind of child who just don’t know no better, would be fired off into space along with their offspring in case their mindset has spread. You are laboring under a misapprehension, SA. You are conflating respect for the principle of free speech with respect for the speaker. Free speech is an accepted principle, one we acknowledge without any reference to proof or confirmation, we hold those truths to be self-evident. We respect the right of any person to express any opinion, however flatulent.
This does not imply a respect for those opinions, or respect for the person voicing such butt-whistle. Indeed, that would somewhat contradict the premise, it would imply that an opinion must be validated to be protected by free speech. That would make the principle of free speech somehow dependent on evidence, when we have clearly stated that free speech is evident in and of itself, and does not require any such validation. Indeed, we honor the principle of free speech unreasonably, even irrationally, and make no apology for it. It is an absurdity, it is a secular faith, based on nothing more than our insistence that we believe it.

There are no points to score. There is a right answer, and a wrong answer, and the only way one can not know this if one a) stupid or b) ignorant. The fact that many people who don’t pay attention might believe there is some doubt is simply a function of the Big Lie strategy of the Republican Party. If you know anything about politics, you cannot have an honest doubt about this and still be a sentient human being. If you know nothing about politics, you should probably not post in political threads. People will think you’re stupid, and they’ll be right.

Because, like the fictitious people he offers as “reasonable questioners”, SA really does live in his own little echo chamber. He doesn’t deal in facts, (or ‘cites’), as he has frequently stated. He relies on his own opinions and his anecdotal experience. So he may indeed have heard some sound bite that contained words like “investigation”. He then incorporated it into his own rather bizarre perspective, and happily offers it as a demonstration of his rationality as well as support for his position. But of course he never actually read his own cite, being already convinced of his command of the subject. Thus he cannot grasp the fact that it demonstrates the opposite of his position, and in so doing reveals him to be a blithering moron. Even now, after having the cite actually read back to him line by line, he continues to insist that it says something it does not.
This isn’t, by any means, the first time SA’s cites have bitten him on the ass. One would think he might take the time to actually read them in advance, but no, that wouldn’t be his style. His style is to remain as blissfully unaware of reality as he can be, to live his life insulated from any actual information, and to use the internet solely for making disingenuous arguments regarding liberal permissiveness as the epitome of what’s wrong with the world. If his internet surfing should actually uncover any genuine information, his eyes will glaze over and he will close the link. “Gotta go now, too busy! I’ll try to come back tomorrow!”
