Starving Artist is right. There are plenty of intelligent people who do not know all the details of Obama’s birth, birth certificate, and the related controversy. They have heard vague stories about questions about it, but lacked the interested to dig deeper into the facts. They trusted their favorite news source and drew their conclusions based on articles half heard during their morning breakfast or commute.
I am one of those people. My favorite news source is NPR.
I strongly suspect that half of you attacking SA are just like me. And the hypothetical Joe and Jane.
The issue is not our commitment to obtaining facts, but the quality of our selected sources. I am committed to sources of high quality, such as NPR and the Christian Science Monitor.
That being said, I still suspect Trump’s candidacy is a liberal conspiracy to disrupt Republican cohesiveness.

I wonder if there is any rules about the First Lady, I mean since Trumps wife isn’t a U.S. citizen does she qualify? Is it just the president they look at for eligability? The point is that they can still do a bit more digging to find out, which Starving Artist qualified as “unrealistic human behavior” in the quote you used from me. Maybe you can answer it since this seems to be one of his “buggering off” days.
The other options are to “not give a shit about it” and actually not care one way or another, to not care enough to do any more research about it and be willfully ignorant, or to form a concrete and poorly informed opinion like most birthers have. That’s really all there is.

I would be surprised if you were and had doubts since NPR and Factcheck.org crushed the crap out of the birth certificate nonsense back during the election. I knew the birth certificate had been viewed way back then and heard that during my ten minute drive to work. Have they changed their reporting that much?
What I said was unrealistic behavior is expecting everyone who hears about the birth issue to immediately set about ferreting out the truth.

I’ll continue this post despite the fact that your weak little mind probably stopped at the first sentence when you thought up another inaccurate response. If someone is actually concerned or curious, I think it reasonable that they then dig a bit more. If they honestly don’t give a shit, then they don’t give a shit either way and won’t look anything up. If they do give a shit, have concern, but don’t care to look anything up about it despite the ease of finding accurate information, then they are fucking idiots.

Clinton, McCain, and Palin all had the opportunity to prove the Obama was not actually born in Hawaii. And all of them had a very powerful motive to do so. They also had the means. The fact that they couldn’t prove this implies, to me, that no such proof exists.

See, your defence of Joe Sixpack for believing the “controvery” is all the more reason to condemn Trump for helping to spread it. Maybe the average person doesn’t have time to research the issue for himself, but Trump wants to be president. We should expect, and in fact, demand, that he get his facts straight before shooting his mouth off.
On the presumption that you’re asking this question seriously, the answer is that no, there are no constitutional eligibility requirements established on the First Lady. One time, a President began his term without even being married.
Also note that John Kerry’s wife, Theresa Heinz-Kerry is not a native-born American citizen. No questions were raised about her eligibility to be First Lady in 2004.
We all know that this is just Trump getting free publicity and trying to boost the ratings for the season finale of The Apprentice. I’m beginning to wonder what his “Big Announcement” is going to be. Not enough to actually tune in, of course. That’s why I read the newspaper.

Well, I admit I thought there was nothing to it all, but since I followed a link from a guy I work with (he posted on his facebook page) and then sought out the original article that the radio show was talking about, I now know so much more about our President, and frankly, I’m frightened. Frightened at how many people have been and continue to be taken in by this scam.

According to this article, Barack Obama is really named Barry Soetoro, he flunked out school at least twice, was a homeless person on drugs, filed illegal false tax returns, never passed the bar, there’s no evidence he was born in Hawaii (or even born at all), illegally obtained a social security number in Connecticut, lived in Pakistan for years, never attended Columbia, somehow obtained a fake diploma, was a CIA drug mule smuggling Afghani heroin into the US, has a history of homosexuality…
I’m astonished that this was kept secret, but according to the article, “Barry” (if that’s his real name!) has been getting payments from the Saudi royal family for years, in addition to all the money he made as a CIA drug mule, and he’s been spending it like water to keep all this secret.
