Donald Trump: Not racist, but #1 with racists

Interesting analysis by 538:

I’m not sure that anyone here is surprised that r/The_Donald has a strong overlap with r/kiketown, r/TheRedPill, r/coontown, and r/fatpeoplehate, but it’s good to have actual data. Oh, and it’s anticorrelated with r/books.

They also do some interesting “subreddit algebra” using many-dimensional vector math, and come up with some “equations” which are not exactly surprising but perhaps unexpected. For instance, r/Conservative - r/politics = r/Mary (the Biblical Mary). So conservatives who aren’t too interested in politics are overrepresented in highly Catholic subreddits.

What makes you think Trump is not racist?

I suppose it’s safer to say that we do not yet have objective data to support that conclusion. Also.

I laughed because of the stereotype about “fascist” being a label for the Catholic right. I wouldn’t expect Trump supporters to like r/politics. It’s a progressive sub. The only time they put up conservative articles is if they criticize Hillary or Trump.

He refused to rent to Blacks based on their race. How is that not racist?

He did it because of money. Yeah, it’s racist, but it’s not enough to establish that he is racist, and not that he’s just willing to do racist things if it will save him money.

Normally I would argue that this distinction doesn’t matter. But when we’re dealing with out-and-out white supremacists, I think it does.

Trump’s racism appears to be incidental.

I completely disagree. He pretended it was about money, but that’s pretty classic, isn’t it? “Those Blacks…well, you know they’ll bring down the property values.”

It’s racist; Trump is racist.
