To be fair to Trump (eww!) that was his first contest ever. I think even he has learned a bit from the early primaries. I don’t expect him to trash states individually, he’ll probably indiscriminately toss a large ball of wadded up vitriol towards the whole country after losing
That’s probably true. Although if he were to undergo a scenario like Gore did in 2000 (lose a crucial state by a handful of votes, with local, opposite-party government heavily involved), he might get more specific in his vitriol.
But, it’s not the same. So far as regional cultures go, New York is to some limited extent objectively praiseworthy and Alabama is not, is it? Unless we’re going by BBQ.
Yes, but there will be a short delay while he accuses the Democrats of rigging the votes with the active support of the Republican establishment, painting the scenario that both Democratic and Republican establishments ganged up on poor Donald in order to thwart the clear and obvious Will of the People™, because clearly and obviously everyone wanted the short-fingered vulgarian to be the next President of the United States.
There may also be suggestions of Mexican rapists and Muslim terrorists getting in on the act, conspiring to rig the votes because they fear The Donald. After that he will wait a bit and when nothing happens to reverse the vote, he will verbally trash the entire country, launch lawsuits against any journalists who opposed him, and retire back into private life as a real estate swindler.
Yes, but: ISTM it was his “you know what I mean, don’t you” wink-wink vibe when saying “New York Values” to the Iowans while failing to specify exactly about what when called on it, that got the New Yorkers rankled up. It was an “if you’re gonna accuse me of something unsavory, come out and say what is it” kind of reaction.
Of course, your claim is nonsense when one actually reads the text of the linked article. Clinton said nothing about the people of Alabama. She pointed out that the effect of the actions of the governor are causing the state to rehash old, bad policy. She then ended the article with a note that Alabama was poised to reverse that trend if the people chose to do so.
Comparing that to Trump’s hateful claim that “Mexico” was “sending” rapists into the U.S. makes no sense. Even the line you quoted says nothing as hateful or asinine as Trump’s rhetoric.
(Actually, while she has failed to impress me with much of her statements, she has very clearly indicated that the people who have flocked to Trump are encouraged by their life situations, not any inherent hatred or stupidity. Your claim (in this context about this candidate) is bullshit.)
