My mom works for a home health agency. A few days ago they had a big meeting on professionalism and what to say and what not to say in front of patients. See a few weeks one of the nurses was making consveration with one of her patients. Somehow the topic turned to a local doctor. The mentioned how she didn’t like him. Apparently she had quite alot to say. This particular doctor refers about 40% of their patients. Guess what happened next.
The patient mentioned what the nurse said to the doctor. He wasn’t pleased. He called the agency and informed them he’s not going to refering any more of his patients to them. Somehow I doubt she’ll have job much longer.
She may learn if she gets fired, or she may be too set in her ways to learn from it and change. But I agree, that was totally inappropriate. One of my doctor’s own staff hates her, and badmouthed her to me at the end of my first visit. I don’t know if they said all that to me because they knew I’m a medical assistant in a doctor’s office myself, or if they tell everybody what an irrational, terrorizing bitch she is to them. But she’s nice to me, so…
There’s another MA in my office that did this once, in a very inappropriate way. We were at a drug rep presentation dinner, just us without the doctors we work for, with a speaker and the drug rep. This stupid girl went on and on and on during dinner about one of our doctors- how she can’t stand him and he’s this and that, and intimating that he’s been guilty of malpractice. I was just stunned. Now I wish that I had told the doctor and the administration of what she did, which I feel was really a horrible thing to do, considering there were other offices at the dinner and it wasn’t even private. Especially considering she’s my nemesis and I can’t stand her and my life would be wonderful if only she wasn’t there.:smack:
