Have you seen this excellent and disturbing documentary series on Netflix?
A few words on why you think it’s “excellent and disturbing” would probably help spur a useful discussion of the show’s potential merits.
And to answer your query, no, I have not seen it.
I read about it yesterday. It seemed really intriguing to me and the review I read was positive. But from what I could tell, the person they are tracking did in fact kill some cats in brutal ways and did post the videos and the videos are part of the documentary series, so I don’t want to watch it.
Same here. There’s enough karmic pain in the world today without going looking for it.
Serious question: why on earth would you post a link to a film like this?? Really? I’m asking. Informative? Educational? Trying to shock people?
And a corollary: why not give some idea of what is to be found there before asking people to click into it?
At the risk of being accused of junior modding, this is outrageous and irresponsible and not want I expect from a grownup with consideration for other people, their feelings, and potential sensitivities. No, not worthy of taking it to the Pit. I’m done.
Seems strange to me that the first 3 comments are from people who have not watched the film in question. Why did you comment at all?
A Twit just wants to correct my English essay.
Whoa ThelmaLou, I did not kill the cats.
Hardly, I’d like to find out why you think this is worthy of discussion before clicking on a strange link from an unknown individual. Some random YouTube link with no useful description fails to impress me. If you’re not interested in dealing with even the smallest bit of scrutiny, that would be your problem. Don’t try to make it mine.
I had NOT heard of the video until this thread, but from what you say…:eek::eek: Thank goodness I read the thread before innocently clicking on the link.
Right A Twit, I did not label that link as the trailer for the documentary.
From a review on Salon:
My response: **HELL **no. I don’t care how good the documentary is, that would traumatize me in a way I’d probably never get over.
OK let me try this again. I thought that only folks who had seen the film and were interested would respond. I do not want to upset you.
There is a documentary series on Netflix. It is named Don’t F**k With Cats. There are three episodes.
The link is for the trailer. Nowhere in it are you going to see kittens killed. It does tell you that there are videos of animal cruelty.
These videos came to the attention of a group of people in 2010. They were horrified and started to try to find the man in the videos. The film interviews those who helped find and bring to justice the man who started with animals and then committed murder.
In the documentary, they talk about what happens in the videos but do not show them in their entirety. Still it is terribly disturbing.
So please just skip the film and this thread if you want.
Just to be clear, I think the idea of tracking down people who kill kittens and exacting revenge on them is A-OK. If they’d done it without actually showing the kitten deaths, I might even have watched it.
Not that I consider the New York Post a reputable news source (I don’t), but if they are to be believed even the trailer is quite upsetting:
What are you on about? He posted a link to a completely innocuous trailer. Get a grip.
I mean, yeah, the OP should have some discussion and tell what the link is to, but it’s not objectionable in any way.
I’m intrigued about the documentary now. Probably will watch.
[Moderating]
To clear this up:
First, the link posted by the OP does not include any footage of cruelty to animals. It does show clips taken from a video of cruelty to animals, but the clips used do not show any of the cruelty itself.
Second, the link the OP posted is a trailer for the full documentary. The full documentary also shows clips from the cruelty videos. I do not know whether the full documentary includes the cruel portions.
Third, the documentary is about the people who tracked down the person who committed the cruelty. I do not know, and it is not evident from the trailer, what eventually happened to that person.
All of that said: The OP really, really ought to have explained these things, in the first post. This is a prime example of why we frown heavily on posts consisting primarily of a link, with little or no context. The reactions of people in this thread are entirely the fault of the OP, for insufficiently explaining what he was linking.
Don’t we already know all about that Luka Magnotta creep anyway?
Chronos, OK I failed and you can take this thread down. My apologies.
A far better start!
Well, I can state without hesitation that the answer would be no.
