I found a printed poem on a piece of paper that was used as backing for a framed photograph of my father, which was taken professionally, wearing his U.S. Navy uniform during World War II. The poem in question is called “Don’t Quit”. I’m sure you have heard the poem before. It starts:
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road your trudging seem all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit -
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
The poem goes on for three more stanzas
At the bottom of poem is a hand written signature. I can only make out the first name, Alfred. The last name could be Mitra but I’m not sure. The last three letters of the last name could be tra or tia
Is this person the author of the poem? If not, who actually wrote this poem.
I’m waiting with bated breath for your quick reply.
