Correct me if I’m wrong, but are the rules saying that if you get it wrong, I lose the point(s)? And is the opposite true? If so, for your correct Madonna answer, I should have +2.5 points.

Carrying on:

  1. Jefferson is the town and it’s Yoknapatawpha County. 2) Oxford, MS and Lafayette County (my hometown).

Close, but it’s actually Ralph Lifshitz (Bronx, New York).

Again, if I now understand the point system, I’ve lost 9 points.

My total: -6.5.

You missed out number 2 entirely, so I’ll repeat your answers below with the correct numbers and your marks.

  1. Lead? – Chalk!

  2. (unanswered) --It’s the active ingredient in a typical bleach.

  3. Hmm… Check for pulse/breathing? – Turn off the current or, if you can’t, remove the victim from it using something insulating - a dry wooden broom handle at worst. Your humane answer potentially got you zapped.

  4. WAG: Mercury (but it’s probably a noble gas like Argon or something. Damn by inferior intellect!) – It is a noble gas, and the lightest: helium.

  5. Vulcan. Father. – Absolutely right.

  6. 180º – Of course.

  7. Polo? – Golf. *

  8. The number of Humps? – Yes, the Arabian (sometimes called “dromedary”) has only one.

  9. British – Swiss - probably the most famous Swiss national hero.

Hmm, seems I suck at this game.

  • Matchplay treats each hole like a “game” in tennis, and whoever wins the most holes wins the round. Strokeplay just adds the strokes from all the holes together, whoever gets round in fewest wins the round. Stableford is similar but you can’t do worse than two over par on each hole.
