Don't you think Obama is making a huge mistake in pissing off all the wrong people?

Well, thank Og you don’t need to worship who you vote for.

I was expressing skepticism that it was possible to disclaim a point of view for an entire group by demonstrating that a small number of members of that group disagree. I know the post you were responding to implied monolith-ness, but I don’t agree with the implications of the way you responded either.

You realize, Koxinga, that your very first cite itself acknowledges that conservatives are, in general, monolithic in support of their own.

I think that Obama is remarkably like President Grant–personally ethical, but shows amazingly poor judgment in choosing his associates and assistants.

Do you think that liberals like him? They don’t. The Republicans just keep making it clear that a liberal voting for them is an act of lunacy, regardless of how much they dislike the Democrats.

Not really.

Indeed.

Koxinga, did you notice the title of that piece?

Uh, yeah, and then I read the rest of it?

Really. Here in Texas, every time Governor Rick or Ted Cruz opens his mouth, all the Yellow Dog Democrats have our convictions renewed. Still a minority but demographics are on our side…

And both those Republican prizes have hinted they’ll be in the running for President again, next time! Lots of great publicity for the GOP!

Well, he is reviving some issues that had been long settled and were bringing some midwestern states back into the blue column, then he started grabbing at their guns. Gun rights have become a partisan issue mostly at the insistence of the Democrats.

Well at least Grant picked a good Secretary of the Treasury to stop the bankers from plundering the nation.

Ted Cruz is crazy but he seems smart.
Rick Perry is stupid but he seems amiable.

N.B.: That link is from The American Conservative, a Buchananite-paleocon magazine, representing a political camp that does not always approve of the GOP.

Your Washington Times opinion link (from October 2012) contains the following gem:

Last week, Mr. Obama told another bald-faced lie when he declared at the presidential debate that he had termed the attack “terrorist” in a Rose Garden address the next day. He did no such thing; in fact, the White House and State Department took nearly two weeks to acknowledge it was a terrorist attack (all the while pushing the spontaneous protest and video canards).

Opinion indeed. You are embarrassing yourself.

Well, it’s the Moonie Times…just using it as a source should be considered self-embarrassment.

Which is why i vote for Democrats who pander to me instead of you about a third of the time. By doing that, it gives my side control of one party, control of part of the other party, and leaves you with nothing.

More likely it means your vote is wasted a lot. And that thought does me a kindness.

Hardly. I’m a coveted swing voter. You just get taken for granted. Ever heard of “hippie punching”? Democrats do that a lot and they do it for my benefit.

You may be a swing voter, but you’re also a hard right ideologue. Or at least you act like one.

I am on economic issues, sure. But I also know that the Republicans run a lot of horrible candidates and many of them aren’t focused on my issues, instead choosing to run on a religious right agenda. That’s when Democrats can win my vote, and they often do. When you only vote for one party no matter what, your vote doesn’t count.

That’s totally wrong, although some of the problems the Republicans have had lately do stem from that kind of thinking.
