Bagels, all the way.
Like someone said, donuts make a nice snack, but they’re nowhere near a good substitute for a nice breakfast. My favorites include a toasted onion bagel with butter, or a toasted seasame bagel with two slices of American cheese smashed in the middle after the toasting. Delicious and nutricious! It would take three donuts to fill me up anywhere near as much as a good bagel breakfast…and they don’t taste nearly as good with American cheese.
Bagels all the way, baby. With real cream cheese, not the low-fat kind. Yes, we have bagels here in the midwest…but I never had a real one until I lived in Chicago (Jacob Bros.). North Shore, where I live now, even better!
Donuts are ok once in a while. Especially Boston Creme.
I will eat either, but I prefer bagels since they’re more satisfying.
Doughnuts with protein are called Cheese Danish.
Quite seriously, I hated the idea of “in the office breakfast.” In-office lunches for meetings? Okay. In-office afternoon treats for birthdays or special occasions? Sure, why not? One company I know of has an afternoon tea twice each week and everyone is strongly encouraged to let calls ring through to voice mail and leave everything behind to come and sit for a half hour with a mug of tea or a soda and some cookies or a cupcake when it’s the monthly birthday celebration. I could get behind that. But breakfasty stuff just sitting around in a coffee area? Gives me the heebies. Doughnuts, bagels, baskets of fruit? Ech.
I like to have my cereal and coffee in the comfort and quiet of my own dining room, thank you, kindly.
