DONUTS!

Now I’m all hungry!

Ahem. Some of us deprived Dopers (ie those of us in the UK) have to wait a while for a decent donut.

How long? Well, look at the sig…

Donuts are yummy. Especially when covered in chocolate. Yummmy! Although I don’t know why crucifixes remind people of donuts.

I made the move in June! mmmmmmm … lots of donuts!

Cream cheese danishes are my favourite, currently. Starbucks (I know, the Evil Empire) has good ones.

They just opened a Krispy Kreme store here in Denver. Are they really that good? people were actually lining up the night before to be first in line for them.

I don’t get the appeal of Krispy Kreme… they’re mediocre at best. I miss the old family bakeries in my grandparents’ old neighborhood. Best donuts ever… I doubt any of those places even exist any longer, alas… <sigh>

For anyone who doesn’t think Krispy Kreme donuts are all that good: you must have them warm from the oven, not the ones that have been sitting around for a while cooling off.

I recently went to NYC and was so happy to find a Krispy Kreme right outside my hotel. The first time I went, I got a warm-from-the-oven original glazed, and it was so good I can’t even describe it. The next day, though, I went and the “donut light” wasn’t on - i.e., they weren’t baking at that moment. So, thinking that a sitting-around donut couldn’t be all that different from a fresh one, I bought one. I took it to go and went outside to sit on a bench and eat it, in great anticipation of the meltingly delicious flavor I had had the day before, and … it was disgusting. The “donut” was a cold, sickeningly sweet, greasy blob of dough. It was so repulsive I threw it out after one bite.

So, just in case you are basing your Krispy Kreme opinion on a sitting-around donut, try a fresh one. I am only glad there are no KK shops in my town, because I would surely gain 100 pounds in a matter of weeks.

last night was the first ever donuts and beer night here in beautiful sunny pennsylvania. yep, that’s right. two dozen donuts and two dozen yuenglings.

I slept the sleep of the righteous.

I once found myself eating yellow Peeps and washing them down with Budweiser. In the middle of the afternoon. Not drunk first.

An all-time low.

I hate you, obfusciatrist and FairyChatMom.

missbunny: All but one Krispy Kreme I have ever had warm was straight off the conveyor belt.

Gross.

The cold one was actually a bit better.

I think the problem with KK is they forgot that the “do” in donut stands for “dough”. There is no dough used in a KK, they have just created same ephemeral lattice structure for holding oil.

When it comes to Krispy Kremes there is no there there.

So…how many donuts can you hold with 2 cups of coffee in your hands?

;0

Anyone else addicted to Tim Horton’s? I love the boston cream and canadian maple. and the strawberry vanilla ::drool:: and for $4 a dozen you cant go wrong!

Fresh Krispy Kremes are the best though.

I had problem with that…no I drink my coffee from big gulp cups, 32 ounces a pop, and they’re perfect for dunking donuts, usually from Dunkin’ Donuts, since nobody I know makes them and Krispy Kremes (which are not bad IMHO) tend to be few and far between in my area.

That’s what my prehensile tail is for
