i said most most you fucking imbecile learn to read.
the basic technology needed to generate electricity is. or close to it. And even if i was wrong you could tell me and for good measure say why. but you’re just acting like an idiot, trying to be cute. Like all my life nothing but the same sarcastic bullshit.
If you take issue with what i post, then do so in a manner that at least looks like something i should take seriously. This crap is just weak. If I’m wrong point it out to me with facts but don’t be cute with me, it destroys whatever small credibility you ever had.
I try to ignore this crap but apes like you keep chucking this shit at me until the smell overwhelms me and i can feel the flames in my head cooking my brains, making me stupid like you.
See, the problem is that you assume everyone is just as unhappy and disillusioned as you are. For a whole lot of us things aren’t all that bad. I’m not rich but I’m comfortable. And the “solution” you propose would change my life drastically for the worse.
The current system is not perfect. There are a great many people out of work right now. That’s why we have safety nets built into the system to try and help them. It’s why many folks like me who know we’re lucky to be working don’t mind at all if our tax dollars are spent to help these folks - it could be me someday I’d I like to think I’d get a little help.
I’m not pretending that those safetys are perfect or any part of our society is perfect but what you propose is not going to make life better, it will make life markedly worse. If you cannot see that then how about opening a Great Debates thread where you spell out the details of your brave new world and we can examine the finer points.
In the mean time - have a fuckin’ beer and realax already.
P.S. - the digg against suranyi - totally uncalled for
Yeah and i suppose you’re an enlightened soul floating above us in a state of harmony with the universe right?. The funny thing is you suggest I am egocentric when your whole statement reeks of a superior attitude. Here’s a tip next time you imply someone is a “know it all” make sure you don’t sound like a complete pompous ass. If you think I’m wrong say say why. This isn’t a political campaign, person attacks merit nothing.
zoid:

My answer: Sometimes strife is necessary. I never said it was an easy solution. I merely said it was the only solution I’ve ever seen as bringing any real change. You can have all the bloody revolutions, new elections and policy changes you want, but if the same super rich assholes control everything. Its just a new face for the same bullshit that’s been around for thousands of years.
You prove my previous point. That no real change will ever come because most people only care for themselves and their own shallow comfort.
Why does everyone insist that I only say these things because I’m miserable? are you implying that I’m miserly? I stated an idea that i believe would help all people in america. I proposed showing the super wealthy that they cant treat people like shit and collect their money too. I called it a protest not a revolution. I did not mean to suggest the collapse and rebuilding of society. Doing the things i mentioned would threaten to destroy the power base (wealth) of the kinds of people responsible for many of our problems as a nation. Thus giving said people no other choice than to clean up their act or join us all in poverty. And since all such people care about is power and wealth it’s plainly obvious what they would choose. I expressed an idea to make a truly effective protest. My point was that complaining does nothing against people who have no empathy or remorse.
You state plainly that my solution is wrong because it would inconvenience you personally. You never said why it wouldn’t work if applied or how it could be more practical. You thought only of yourself. Yet I am the self centered one. The egomaniac. The misanthrope. I was suggesting an idea to improve my home country and as a consequence, improve my own life. Your thoughts didn’t even go beyond your own front door.
But since i express my opinion in way that is hostile and angry, No one bothered to actually think about what i said. Focusing instead on how i said it. You interpret my hostility towards the way my country is run with personal hostility toward you, Hence the personal attacks and mockery of people like blank and the sarcastic jibes of suranyi. You are thinking from a completely self absorbed perspective. As i said in the previous post, i don’t think these people are thinking from an objective, logical perspective.
I railed on suranyi because what she did pissed me off. And if you piss someone
off expect to be insulted. I did nothing to warrant such childish mockery other than have a different opinion. At least i think so since suranyi never actually posted any opinion. Blank may be a jerk, but at least he expressed an actual opinion. That one being that I am an asshole. Which is fine, i don’t expect most anyone to like me and couldn’t care less what they think. But don’t criticize me for sending a personal attack of my own when they start the exchange.
I’m not the pompous ass in this thread…jus sayin’.
Nooo. I didn’t bother debating your topic because you’re wrong. Society is an emergent behavior. Knock one group down and the next group will take it’s place. The reasoning for this is simple: A certain small subset of the population is selfish and sociopathic. Your bloody revolution will not improve things for any reasonable period of time, but it very well could end up getting people killed, I’d prefer to not be one of those people.
The Super Wealthy CAN treat people like shit and get away with it, mostly because the system is geared to create them and keep them there. Knock one down and another will just stand up to take their place.
Funny thing is, you make that sound like a BAD thing. There’s space in this game for a few VERY Wealthy people, and they appear to be doing Very Good things. (tell me http://www.gatesfoundation.org/Pages/home.aspx is EEEEEVIL, go ahead)
OK, here’s a suggestion from someone who has been reading but not responding to this thread so far. Print out a copy of your posts (all of them, not just an edited sample) in this thread, give them to a friend to read, and have him/her tell you how you’re coming across. Because you sure come across to me as being miserable.
Seriously, dude, you’re depressed. You need help.
(I don’t happen to agree with your premise at all, but everyone else is stating my case as well as I could.)
As irritating as it can be, try, honestly, to step back for a moment and think about how piddling and meaningless a complaint this is in the grand scheme of things.
We don’t know how amazingly easy we have it. You’re complaining about security steps that amount to a trifling inconvenience as you use the safest, fastest, most unbelievable awesome form of transportation ever devised by humans, which is available to everyone for an affordable price, allowing you to visit your family in a way that not long ago would have bene hopelessly impossible.
In a human story full of coutries that just fell apart completely or slaughtered their own inhabitants or enslaved them or collapsed into war and famine and chaos or watched smallpox carry away a quarter of the population, in a history where is is still true that the overhelming number of people who have ever lived lived a hand-to-mouth existence, your complaint is that you have to go through airport security and they take your bottle of water.
I’m not saying it isn’t irritating. It absolutely is - I fly a lot and hate a lot about it. But contrast what you’re saying with the OP saying the USA is doomed. Are you guys really talking about the same thing?
I’ve said it before and will say it again; anyone who thinks the USA is some sort of failed, broken state has never set foot in a failed, broken state. Or, for that matter, ever picked up a book on history. And I say that as someone who isn’t an American and so has no stake of pride in the issue.
TARP was an initiative of the Bush administration. Honestly, this isn’t like forgetting the details of the Spanish-American War; this happened TWO YEARS AGO. It was a big deal in the news.
Canada has one of the steadiest, strongest economies in the world. You should feel very lucky you live here. Why you’re complaining about living in the country that’s weathered this storm the BEST, I can’t even begin to comprehend. The country still runs fine. Most people have jobs, and the unemployment situation is getting better.
The inflation rate is just a hair over two percent, which is about normal.
Canada was morally obliged to go to war in Afghanistan. We’re in NATO. We live up to our promises. It sucks that al-Qaida started a war with us and Afghanistan sheltered them, but perhaps you’d like to speak to my grandmother and read by grandfather’s war journals from WW2 to see what it’s like when things are BAD.
