I think a lot of it is simply nothing better to do here. But another factor for me is that the local people typically are lacking brain-processing power (Trust me, I’ve heard some of the dumbest shit). I find the SDMB a nice place to engage in intelligent conversation, even though I don’t use my brain to its full capacity most the time.
