I disagree. It’s a useful shorthand to recognise where someone has made a clever joke or reference which may not be immediately obvious to readers. I sometimes use “Nicely done” instead but the convention is still worth keeping.

I agree it’s funny. I confess, I saw this in reference to me, and “kinda played” was the least negative way I could describe it. (i.e. excuse to bump)
