::: Looks at list of contributors:::
No, it looks like I will have company.
Got home early (stomach bug. ick.). Donation sent.
Rick, good on ya for seeing a doper in need and stepping up.
Dopersibs, damned great lot of people. Proud to be one of ya. (tears in my eyes)
RyJae, you’re one of us. Like everyone else has said… just pay it forward.
Love to all,
Dazz

Hey! I’m a Charter Member There too!
Money and PM sent.
RyJae– I (and I’m sure many others) have been there. To be able to help, even in a small amount makes me happy, which is worth it all on it’s own.
When the time comes, keep an eye out. You will have a chance to make a small difference to someone else at some point in time. You are not the first Doper to benefit from the generosity of this board, and you will probably not be the last.
I agree, I sent something last night. Balance has been a little restored. I hope things get sorted with your bank soon enough.
Rick, sorry to hear my use of Paypal incurred charges for you. If I’d known, I would have tried to find a better way to get a little bit of cash to you.
RyJae - I’m with the rest of 'em, pay it forward when you can!
RyJae, I’m in a sticky place myself at the moment, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed and my breath held for you. Hang in there. hugs
Paypal incurred charges to the recipient of an international transaction? Bother. How much was it?
I just sent something via PayPal. Hopefully not too late for the FedEx shipment. If you are using your Excel spreadsheet to track paybacks, list mine as “please pay forward” as well.
Montana goons aren’t as expensive as New Jersey goons. In fact, I think Goons ‘R’ Us may have a sale this week. I’ll have to check.
Thank you bad picture blame the camera man… me. I personally want to thank you as well, thank you all. I cried again today, cried this time not out of hopelessness but out of gratitude. Every Doper, formed a human chain and pulled my family out of despair, no words can say thanks enough.
Just pay mine forward, my son has Aspergers very badly - nothing like your lovely daughter, but I support autism charities just the same.
I went through my share of therapy toys when he was little (fine motor skills were a problem.)
Just pay it forward. Or spend it on your little girl!
Cheers,
G
RyJae, that picture made me a little teary. Very sweet.
Yay for the kindness of strangers!
About 12:30 this afternoon west coast time, I totaled up my excel spreadsheet and headed off to the bank. I got a cashier’s check (offcial check they call them now) for the full amount*
The check is in the mail (not really, but I have always wanted to post that)
The official check is in the FedEx and will be delivered by 10:30 AM Wednesday.
This afternoon I spoke to RyJae by phone. If I had to sum up that conversation in a word I think it would be overwhelmed. RyJae is overwhelmed by the response to his plight. He had no idea that anyone would give a shit about him, his family and their problems.
For those of you that contributed after the cut off I will send another check at the end of the week.
*Full amount is everything that was sent paypal, including echecks that have not been collected. It also includes whatever charges paypal charged, I picked those up and included them in the total. so whatever you sent went to RyJae. On the international (non-US) transactions, I ball parked the amount of the service charge for the conversion ($1.12 @ .98564789 is about a buck for example).
Everyone that sent me a PM or e mail promising a check, I sent the full amount of what you pledged.
You made me cry wit that picture
This is why I love the community. People help out others in need. If the rest of the world was like this place there would be less suffering.
RyeJae I’m glad you let us help you.
I noticed you joined in July, so rather than send a check (I don’t use paypal), I just paid your next year’s subscription.
Order Number: SDMB2007061219071805419301
Good Luck,
Jim
Spoke with my wife. Confessed spending money.
Explained why.
More coming, courtesy of my wife.
That picture and the block message just melted my cold, cold heart.
Mama Zappa’s contribution is on its way. (She’s out of town and I don’t have a PayPal account[sup]1[/sup]. She told me how to send it - so much for my “Geek Street Cred”.)
Thank you for arranging this Rick!
On preview I see I’m sorta too late.
Maybe it will make round 2 - the “stake the bastards to an anthill” fund. (On preview I see I’m behind on that also.)
Add us to the “Pay it Forward” bunch as well.
RyJae, that picture is beautiful. Thank you!
[sup]1[/sup] Even though I don’t have a PayPal account, I get daily notices to update my password … :dubious:
I was hacked (or bank error, Wells Fargo would not tell me) and was hit pretty hard by it. You have best wishes and a few bucks heading to you and your exceptionally cute family via Rick.
If you are a Wells Fargo customer, be prepared to not use that account for up to 3 months while they “investigate”. Then close it so fast all they see is a vapor trail.
Sorry, but I didn’t read this until just a half hour ago or I would have chimed in sooner. Thanks to Rick for doing this.
T.
Rick, my whole first name might be on the account, I’ve hated it for over 40 some years. I beg you to forget you ever saw it. Please?
My personal preference, RyJae, is for you to pay it forward rather than a charitable donation. You are in need and we’re here for you. Take that kindness and just pass it on at some point in the future. If we keep passing on the generosity, the world will certainly be a better place.
On preview, I see there’s an entire page 2 saying the same thing only better. Best wishes to you and yours, RyJae.
