Thanks, Rick, for organizing all of this. And thank you, RyJae, for allowing us to help your family. I feel like I’ve gotten something infinitely more valuable than money out of my small part in all of this.

I know that I enjoyed the blessing of being able to help you out (even if it wasn’t as much as I wanted to give).

I was going to hold up my participation in this thread to defend myself against valid charges of jerkishness in other threads, but when I figured out the average donation based on Rick’s numbers, I realized I got nothing.

May I suggest you add a note in the OP as well… People aren’t always as observant as we give them credit for.
Good idea actually. What the Dope gave was outstanding, what I feared was people seeing the initial OP and automatically giving, without reading through. I suggested to Rick, it being his OP to perhaps make it known enough generosity was shown already. For that my family is still eternally thankful.
Rick, and the rest of the Dope, I’ve sent emails and/or PMs to I think most of you by now, I’m going through my list and if you haven’t received a thank you email/PM you will soon!
I’m getting there, but the amount of Dopers so giving, beats the ability of my fingers to type. And also for me to make sure your thank you from all of us, is unique, and from our hearts.
It’s a good suggestion, but barring an extreme case, we typically don’t add text to an existing post. We remove links, add spoiler boxes or fix coding, but we’re instructed to leave the text alone.
I have added a [Please do not donate.] to the title, so hopefully that’ll take care of most people. If the OP wants, I can lock this thread and a new one can be started to discuss the events.
No more contributions have come in since the tittle was changed, so I think we are good for now. Thanks for the suggestions.
