Doper Radio - In which we discuss musicians, bands and composers we have recently discovered.

haha I had forgotten about that!

I agree! I had never heard of either of them before. I confess, I neglected jazz for many years, pretty much since I was much younger and dabbled with the sax. I’ve been totally entranced with her videos since then, though.

Can’t wait til August! I’m pretty much going for Hiromi and Chick Corea, but I suspect my eyes (and of course ears) will be opened a bit that day.

‘Hardcore noise terrorists’ is a good description. Not at all to my taste, but my son loves them, so that’s all to the good. He was looking for a new band to follow…

Sweet! Glad Le Cadet de l’au-delà liked them!

Another band I found earlier this year with more space in their songs (and more discernible vocals) might strike his fancy too:

Fake Life by Whores
Daddy’s Money by Whores

They’re kind of a cross between Jesus Lizard and Iron Monkey (but much more heavily the former).

I may have asked before when Snakefarm has been mentioned, but have you and Snowboarder Bo heard much Anna Domino? My husband and I became fans in 1987 with her album This Time. It was a thrill to finally meet her many many years later, when she was touring with Snakefarm. We got her autograph, but I’m kicking myself that we didn’t bring a video camera or even a regular camera. Here’s a few favorite Anna Domino songs:

Rhythm

“Lake”

“Land of My Dreams” (here’s a lip sync version with not great audio, but you get to see Anna in action)
