Doper username categories: colors, trees, places, musical, etc

I’m a place and a plant (in Spanish).

add 1 to the sports category

Wile E. could join me in Looney-Tunes related, if s/he wanted.

Musical here. “Annie Christmas” is a song from Andrew Lloyd Webber & Jim Steinman’s “Whistle Down The Wind.” I’ve been a huge ALW fan for decades, my name includes Anne, and my B-day is 12/25!

I can play the spoons (which is how I got my username), so I guess I’m at three. I don’t think I can go further though.

I probably belong in the space dwelling creatures set. It’s possible that non-UK folks won’t have a clue what I mean.

I would suspect there’s a group of us whose name means nothing special and refers to basically nothing or nobody we were aware of at the time we signed up or logged in the first time. Just in case other Dopers have reused a name for a character they made up for some web story (mine was on a BBS in the early 80’s) they can add their names to my list of one that I can recall:

Zeldar

I suppose I wanted a “Z” name, and maybe Dan Aykroyd’s Conehead name of Beldar was stirring in my subconscious. In any case, I see that “zeldar” gets over 40,000 hits on a simple Yahoo! search. Surprising.

Hey, Mangetout, want to come and hang out over here in the food category?

Add me to Sports.
Maybe also a cross-over to Activities/Hobbies

Can I have a category all to myself?

“Frightening mythical creatures”?

Ellen Cherry – Tom Robbins character … and tasty female confection.

You forgot “Superhero Battle Cry (plural)”.

:smack: Well hell’s bells. I knew about Hal’s alter ego, but I never saw that. Color me dumb.

Speaking of colors, you can put me there, or else in movies.

How about Questions or old Jokes.

**Whynot, What Exit?, What the … !!!, Who_me? **

Almost but not quite in the category: MsWhatsit, Doctor Who,

BTW: Add **Crotalus ** to your animal list. Rattle Snake IRC.

For ‘Play on Words’: **Ellis Dee ** = LSD

‘Qadgop the Mercotan’ is not a monster but an Alien lifeform. I am not sure if he counts.

There are many Tolkien related user names. Elendil’s Heir, Arien, Maeglin, Anduril, I believe their was a Sauron, well he’s back, athelas, Eonwe.

Mythological beings: Claurican{sp?}, Autolycus

Fantasy Characters: Clothahump, The Librarian, Malacandra, Captain Carrot

Science Fiction Characters could include Qadgop the Mercotan and I think Maureen, John Carter of Mars, Doctor Who, Winston Smith

For animals: **blondebear, Swampbear, Bearflag70, chaoticbear, Opalcat, dogbutler, Dung Beetle **

Jim

Saw another one for the ‘word play’ category: Commasense

Add **Smart Aleq ** to that list.

I’m on EJsGirl’s names list.

I named myself after the pseudonym adopted by the guitarist for Pavement, one of my favorite bands. That makes me musical. (And it is, in fact, the only way in which I could be described as musical.)

I think the relevant pigeonhole, which no one has articulated yet, is “Literary Characters”, with “Literary” broadened to include names from movies, TV shows, songs, and video games. My username is from a character in the book This Island Earth by Raymond F. Jones, and, of course, for the character played by Rex Reason in the vastly changed movie adaptation of that book.

I guess that’s my category too.

There’s also a poster named Crotalus, which is the genus for a variety of venomous pit vipers, including all rattlesnakes. In fact, the only non-rattlesnake member of the Crotalus family that Wikipedia’s article describes is Crotalus cerastes, or the sidewinder.

As for me, I’d fall under the category of “nicknames and diminutive forms.”
