Mine should be obvious. I love to golf.

If not, let’s here it.

I found one that’s about a year old. It’s here, but rather than resurrect it, I’ll put my explanation here.
I have terrible penmanship. It’s better than it was when I was younger though. In about 6th/7th grade, I was teased by the other kids because when I wrote my name (Laura), it looked like I was spelling it Lsura. So, I ended up using it as my username.
That’s it. Simple, basic explanation.
Like Batman, Darkman, Spiderman, and other mans, I prefer to keep myself shrouded in mystery.
Mine’s phonetic. First initial, last name. I own dnooman@(almost every webmail client) since it’s not common. It came about when hotmail rejected the ten thousandth freaking user-name I had tried.
My explanation can be found in post #59 of this thread.. Don’t feel bad about bringing up the subject, though, duffer – there are always new posters, old ones who change their screen names, and veterans who missed previous opportunities to enlighten their kindred spirits of the SDMB.
Tears For Fears, my friends. Tears For Fears. Roland Orzabal is the greatest musical genius of the 20th century (with a distant second going to Thom Yorke), and I use this username on every board I post to in hopes of spreading the joys of TFF.
Of course for me it was the Monty Python Dead Parrot.
Beatiful Bird that Norwegian Blue…Lovely plumage!
hear. hear! DAMMIT, HEAR!!!
:smack:
Thanks for going with this thread, I noticed the linked one was only a few months ago.
Mangetout. I always thought you were touting the affliction of mange. Liking food went right over my head.
And that is the origin behind my name. The Radiohead album, Kid A.
duffer, I thought your name referred to someone who works on a movie set.
Mine, which started as vanillanice was a nod to my favorite song Ice Ice Baby.
I dropped the nice.
I was roxx222 for a while because my imagination was on break the day I signed up for the SDMB and I just used something I would remember.
Once I knew I’d be here a while, I went for a name change. It took me a while to decide, and I came to the boards for a little help, but I finally settled on Antigen. Why?
My friend had a baby, and because her parents have no brothers or sisters, I was appointed as her “Auntie Jen”. Being a science student and all, I couldn’t help hearing that as “Antigen”, and I liked it. Short, sweet, easy to remember, and it relates to my field of study. Voila! my new SDMB username, Antigen!.
Am I causing any immune responses yet?
For added fun, I now call the baby my little antibody (because she grabs onto me, see?).
I used Idlewild as a character name in an MMOG. I picked it up from the old name of JFK airport in NY. It always struck me as exceedingly pretty. When I changed characters, I decided to stick with this as my general messageboard user name. I’ve been using it since 1999, and it’s pretty comfortable. Additionally, I don’t mind at all that it’s fairly gender-neutral. I used to have very feminine messageboard usernames, but I grew tired of the teenage male gamer effect.
At first, I went on here by my user name, Joel. Then, I decided to use a handle, so I tried one I used when I use to be on local BBS’s (before the Internet phased them out) Maverick, which I got from the movie will James Garner, Jodie Foster, and Mel Gibson. However, even though I don’t think I’ve seen a single post under that name, I was told that the name was taken. So, after trying to think of another name I liked equally as well, I decided to stick with movie characters, and thought my current name sounded better than any others I could think of. Plus, I thought it was kind of cool to end all my posts with the sig “End of Line.”
At first, I went on here by my user name, Joel should read At first, I went on here by my real name, Joel
It’s a shortened version of my first and middle names.
That is all.
Huh, I’d wondered where you went. “Joel” always drew my attention because it’s my brother’s name.
I’m C3 because those are my initials…C.C.C. Pretty boring, I know.
It was because of the zymolosely polydactile tongue.
I’m a musician, and these days I’m very much into bluegrass and porch pickin’. Simple enough, and I was surprised that the name wasn’t already taken.
From the ELO album, Out of the Blue. I wanted to have an ELO-based name and the other two “Mr.” choices were:
Mister Radio - didn’t want to mislead anyone into thinking I was in the radio biz
Mister Kingdom - I use this on a DVD authoring board.
