And to all those I sent to, I’m hoping you get them in time, or at least reasonably close to V-Day. I don’t have a ton of faith in the local postal carriers. It won’t weaken the feeling behind them, though!!!

Got 4 today. Really brightened up a crummy Friday the 13th (I started my day spending 3 and 1/2 hours in the emergency room getting stitches in my finger and a tetanus shot!)

They’re all amazingly beautiful and creative. The poem was hauntingly beautiful. And I now have little sprinkly confetti bits all over my apartment.
There are some lessons lo be learned from my experience making my cards…[ul][]Next time, get Kinkos to fold the cards as well as copy them.[]Licking envelopes makes me nauseous after the fist seven. I should have used the sponge and water dish from the start.[]Peel-and-stick stamps are a great idea. And, if you get them in groups of fifty, they come on little spools![]More leadtime means I can do better artwork. (Be glad I didn’t use the first drawing I came up with. It was somewhat… duisturbing.) [/ul]

WOW! I got 15 today! My mother was at my house watching the kids when I got home. She saw the pile and the resulting conversation was funny:
Mom: Are you in a cult?
Me: No…just cards from some friends.
Mom: Let me see…ooohhh…that one is pretty. What the hell is a “Doper?” Oh my God, are you doing drugs?
Me: No, paranoid. It’s just some cards from some nice people I have met online.
Mom: ONLINE? Do you not know that predators are on the computer? Oh, dear Lord, are you involved in some internet scam or something? Does Sauron have any idea you are involved with this.
Moms…can’t live with them…can’t kill them and get away with it…
I got two more today, AND I finally put mine in the mail; sorry for the delay, but at least they’ll stand out by arriving all by themselves, right? Just think of them as dessert.

Not strictly on point but I had to let you know what happened to me today in attempting to also spread a little Valentine’s day love (if this should be moved elsewhere please do so and my apologies as MBoard etiquette is still new to me)
I decided to send all the female contacts in my Phone an anonymous SMS for VD - just to add a little spice to their lives - who doesn’t like a secret admirer? (I know some of them have been feeling a little lonely lately - bad breakups, etc). I composed a poem as follows:
On this day of love when we seek romance
For the one who holds us and makes our hearts dance
We run the gamut from hope to despair
As we find our love cups fiull or bare
I may be a man from your future or past
It may be fleeting or it maybe will last
I may love from nearby or adore from afar
You dont know me but I know who you are
On this day of love I have one thing to say
You have one more admirer this Valentine’s day
Good idea right? Well not only did I NOT turn off my caller id (So everyone knew who sent this (including all female workmates (18 - 50) and my sister!!!) there was one further surprise. A month ago I accidentally mixed up two digits on a friend’s (Jennifer) phone number and stored it on my phone. When I realised I just entered the new number and forgot to delete the incorrect one. Yes obvious isn’t it - I sent this note to a stranger (luckily a girl) who then proceeded to keep asking me who I was,etc etc. I played mysterious (not knowing I had sent my caller id with the SMS) until not only she, but her flatmate and finally her boyfriend rang me to find out who I was, why I was sending her a VD message and in the end to abuse me (the boyfriend). A good 45 mins of embarassing phone calls and some significant abuse was my reward for playing cupid. Who knows what awaits when I go back to work on Monday
Still I wouldnt take it back for a second! It alt least made me laugh adn I ahve a story to tell for my trouble
So to all of you who obviously share the joy in making others feel loved and wanted have a laugh at my expense - the smile in itself is worth all the crap!

I know it’s totally unfair to single out one card or another for coolness (this isn’t a competition), but I got two today that totally blew me away: vivalaswages’s card made me laugh and laugh, and horseflesh’s elaborate combination of injokes was also a hoot.
