Just wanted to say - I’ve gotten a slew of cards already - will post more in detail as time permits. Unfortunately - mine have yet to go out. They will be late - sorry! But they will still be filled with tons of Doper Love!!!
As a first time participant in the doper valentine, I am amazed at the beautfiul cards I am getting…Lurkmeister, Pandora, Averie…thank you…it is so nice - my husband is laughing at me because I get so excited I have so many valentines! As one of the few Canadian members apparently, I am only sorry it took me so long to find the SDMB!

I’ve gotten six cards already, and it’s not even Valentine’s Day yet! This is soooo cool! Every day, I run through the house screaming, “I got ANOTHER Valentine’s Day card! I got TWO Valentine’s day card!” I have confetti all over the floor in my foyer (where I stand and open my mail), and my kids keep asking me if I’m going to sweep it up. “It’s staying there,” I’ve told them. Every time I walk through the foyer, I walk in confetti. It’s getting tracked through the house and I’m finding little glittery and pastel hearts here and there. It is so, so, so cool. Little heart reminders of all my new friends all over the place.
My daughter came home from college for the weekend and saw all my Valentine’s Day cards. “Where did you get all of these?” she asked me. “You have STRANGERS sending you Valentine’s Day cards?” she asked me horrified when I told her. “They aren’t strangers,” I explained, “They’re my friends from Straight Dope. AND THEY SENT ME VALENTINE’S DAY CARDS!”
This is so, so, so, so, sooooo cool!
Oh, I would like to personally thank no only everyone on my list, but a Hats Off Thank You to Scuba Ben for putting together the lists (and making sure we got them).
So, last night LilMiss gets the mail.

Wednesday, I got two. Thursday, I got one.
Today, on Friday February 13th, I got 13! Big Beautiful Doper Valentines. My mailman must think I am really, really loved (or a slut).
I bought a box of chocolate truffles with a really cool Valetine’s Day inspired red and pink cover. Tomorrow night I shall make a cup of cocoa, eat the truffles, and open all the Doper Valetine Cards. Then they will go into the now-empty box, and I will keep them forever.
This is so much fun!
Well, I can go home and rummage through my mailbox with a clear conscience – I just finished sealing, addressing, stamping, and putting return address labels on 33 Doper ValentinesTM. Enjoy, all – I know I’m enjoying the gorgeous and silly and wonderful valentines I’ve been getting.

EarthPuppy - sent an envelope so pretty, I didn’t even open it. Okay, I did, and it was a lacy thingy, very girlie and very pretty. Wow. I am now shamed that I only sent you fuzz, lint, and an old spitwad.

DirkGently - sent me cigarrette butts! Whee! And a very nice card.
HorseFlesh - sent me $20 for a lap dance from my stripper exGF. And a 1920s style LOVE ray. (e-mail when you’re coming through, and we’ll exchange #s for a miniDopefest hook up. Maybe I can get JoeK and the others from the OK list to join us fer beers or something.)
The recent posts - regarding valentines received - reminds me of the current Kay Jewelers commercial, the one where the little girl gives her boy classmate a valentine, and he looks puzzled at first and then hands her a jar with a toad in it. Priceless, huh?
It’s either Diana Rigg in The Avengers or Joanna Lumley in The New Avengers - I may have no imagination, but I have a bunch of DVD box sets, and a scanner …
