It’s come to my attention that the airfare from New York to Paris is now
wait for it…
$278! Yep, for a mere too hunnert and sevenney ate bucks, you can jump on a British Air, Continental or Air Fraunce Jet and pop on over to Gay Paree! For another hunnert a night, there’s a cute little hotel called Home Plaza Bastille in the jumpin part of town and right on the metro.
And as an added bonus, British Air has a dealie where if you can’t or won’t go for any reason, including fear, they’ll let you push the trip back for free. I think the others will probably match that offer.
So I’m thinking of popping over there, maybe in late January. Out on Thursday night, back Monday afternoon.
Well, if we can’t make it to Paris, wring, we’ll just have to plan something for that weekend. We’ll go somewhere and commiserate about just how badly it sucks to not be able to afford to go to Paris even when the rates are that damn cheap.

Interesting! It’s a while away but I think if I’m not in the US around that time, I should be up for it.
Got taken to a couple of fairly strange avant-garde clubs when I was last there and I still know one or two people with their ear to the ground over there. Might be a handy connection.
I guess I’d be a ‘maybe’ for a while if this firmed up soon.
Paris is the next European city I am interested in visiting, although Twisty has been lobbying for Dublin. I would be VERY interested in a dopefest along these lines, but I was thinking more late Feb/March-ish time wise. If I do go, a visit to the Parisian catacombs and the City of the Dead is #1 on my list of things to do.
Hey, UK doper checking in (me, that is). If this goes ahead you can proably count me in, it sounds like a great plan, and besides I’ve never been to Paris.
