Doper Wimmen Migraine Sufferers...this may be of interest

Women suffer more from migraines than men. Well, duh.
Just thought in the interest of our headache suffering clique here, I would share.

Interesting read Shirley. When I was in my late teens, early twenties I had cluster migraines two to three times a week. Fast forward 20 years and now I only have them about 3 times a year.

Thanks, Shirley. Don’t you agree on: “may not hear their own bodies”? There’s often no time for that, huh.

Darn at the chocolate, though. :frowning:

Oh, I dunno…I think men account for a lot of our migraines!

Cluster headaches are not the same as migraines. I don’t mean to argue what kind of headaches YOU have/had (since I have no idea) but it’s an important distinction because a lot of people are incorrectly diagnosed and therefore receive the wrong kinds of treatment.

I have classic hormonal migraines and have since I was a teenager. You can set your calendar by these buggers. Annoying as hell, but once I figured out the hormonal connection, I could be ready to fight 'em off.

My husband is a cluster sufferer, and his attacks have lasted as long as 43 days. The longest he has gone without an attack is three years, and he started having these by the time he was seven. He’s on an experimental prevention program that SEEMS to reduce the intensity of the episodes, but so far we haven’t found a “cure.”

Hey! I go the Diamond Headache Clinic! It’s a really, really nice place for headache sufferers, just so you know. But yeah, I get migraines though recently after going through more then 8 medications I’ve found a preventative that actually prevents headaches. I haven’t had a headache or migraine in the better of a week or so. My migraines just suddenly started last spring with no family history of them what so ever, so it’s been hard working it out. But now I must say I feel a lot better. There is hope for migraine sufferers!
