I couldn’t decide between MPSIMS or IMHO, so please move accordingly.

I had an interesting idea while posting to another thread. Lets make a DoperBot!

Heres the idea: There’s an AI chat bot called MegaHAL that learns by getting chat input from a human. It can also learn by feeding it appropriatly formated text files (they used the screenplay to Aliens with amusing results). A doper or a group of dopers, get all the threads over the last couple years and convert them to txt files and parse them to the proper format. With the proper parsing software you could feed in only a certain Username’s posts or group of Usernames. We could make a Spoofe Bot, or an Uncle Beer’s bot, or just a general doper bot.

Of course this be nothing close to true AI, and my guess is that it will turn out more like a TrollBot than anything else but it would be very amusing to try it.
So…any volunteers?

We already have a tourbot and a forumbot. You want we should have a parrotbot too?:slight_smile:

If a bot could boot bots; how many bots could a bot boot if a bot could boot bots?

Were can I find the tourbot and forumbot? Are they based on the SD forums data?

This idea was preposed very recently (I think less than a week ago) and someone mentioned that two other dopers that have tried it were both banned. I would advise against it :).

Don’t worry, I won’t try it. I couldn’t even if I wanted to I am not a programmer. That was probably that mentioned it in the AI thread a week or so ago.

First of all, why were they banned?

What exactly were they trying to do?
