Any 'dopers have an Amazon Fire Stick? I have a friend asking me if he gets the Amazon Fire Stick TV unit whether or not it will enable him to get the PAC-12 Network, which he can’t get through his regular provider. I told him, tentatively that he won’t be able to, since the only thing I’ve been able to find about the Amazon Fire Stick as it relates to the PAC-12 network is that it goes through your regular TV/Cable/Satellite provider and that all the AFS does is basically allow you to stream the content captured to your mobile device. However, as I know next to nothing about the AFS and have never used one I figured I’d check here on the off chance there are any 'dopers using it or who know more about it than the 2 minutes of Google searching I’ve been able to slog through on this subject.
The PAC-12 app on Amazon requires an account with a listed provider.
Networks are coming around, e.g., HBO and Showtime, which allow you to subscribe without a cable account. But sports networks seem stupider than the usual cable networks.
A “fire-stick?”
We’re not a bunch of primitive jungle-dwellers. Just call it a “match,” fercryinoutloud.
I thought he meant a firearm.
Of course, it is Pac-12 football, so I may be right.
Thanks…that’s pretty much what I told him. Someone was saying you can buy the PAC 12 network via the internet without having to go through a provider such as your cable or satellite company, but it amounts to the same thing in the end…and the Fire Stick thingy doesn’t seem to really help out in that regard.
