I drink alcohol and smoke the occasional cigar but that’s about it. Not that I have any moral objection to illegal drugs, I’ve just never used them.
If I am remembering the same thread you are (of course, your memory is probably better than mine 
), people got upset with the smug condescending attitude of a few posters – Paraphrasing (and probably exaggerating), “I’ve never done drugs and I think anyone who does is a moron and they should all be jailed because they are scum”.
There is such a thing as a recreational marijuana user who can hold a job and still be a productive member of society. Some people got upset with the wide brush used by a few people, not at the “goody-goodies”.

Male, 39. I don’t smoke anything, don’t use illegal drugs, don’t drink any alcohol more than a few sips at very wide intervals. I know what I’m like without those drugs; I really don’t want to multiply my problems by using them.
As for drinking alcohol at university?
This didn’t seem to apply for me, either at university or at college. 
Of course, I suffered the usual insistent boors who offered me something and found it difficult to take ‘no’ for an answer. But they eventually did.
Of course, I’m Canadian, so my mileage definitely varies. It’s metric, for one thing…

Me neither. There’s a high rate of addiction in my family - you’ve all heard about my cousin and the over-the-counter drugs. I’m especially worried about how I’d react to alcohol - I’m certain that I’d use it as a way to escape problems.
Heck, I have enough trouble with caffeine as it is. :eek:
The worst I’ve ever done is walk through a cloud of marijuana smoke at an outdoor concert five years ago. I’ve never smoked, and I’ve only gotten drunk a half dozen times or so. Lately, I’ve cut back on caffeine. I used to have a soda a day-- now it’s about once a week.
My life is more boring than ever!
I can honestly say that I’ve never either experimented or done drugs in my entire life.
I’m so dull.

You know, it’s nice to see that I’m not the only person who has never smoked pot.
I’m a thirty-seven year old female, I like beer (way too much, I think), I smoked Marlboro Reds for one year (quit cold turkey), and I’ve never done an illicit drug.
Don’t get me wrong, I certainly have my “vices”, but for some reason, illegal drug use is not amongst them.

For that matter I don’t even drink coffee. Tried it once in my early teens and hated the taste, which permanently put me off wanting to try it again!

I’ve had a multitude of opportunities to try every drug imaginable, and been under severe peer pressure, and never tried - not even once. I just was not interested.
Do the unavoidable fumes of pot smoke at Tom Petty concerts count?
Otherwise, no, I have not ingested anything besides the rare sip of alcohol.
I’ve never smoked, legal or illegal, or tried any illegal substance. I did take my husband’s codeine prescription once when I was sick, and got busted on the employer’s drugscreen (which thankfully, I was allowed to retest on a few days later when I explained).
The one time I think I was exposed to second-hand marajuana fumes in a junior high school bathroom it made me sicker than a dog. To this day, I cannot stand the mere odor - and I have encountered it on people’s clothes, under incense, etc. - it still makes me sick if it gets stronger than mere whiff.
I visited Jamaica, and had rum there. It was very good stuff. The ‘gange’ and the ‘shrooms’ everyone kept offering me were not something I wanted, much to the offerer’s continual amazement. (Of course, I also turned down propositions for more, um, personal entertainment from almost everyone male for a week, too. I was supremely puzzled until I finally figured out WHY I was suddenly Marilyn Monroe’s prettier sister…)
I can’t claim any special virtues - I will drink, although not too much, and I’ll never drive under the influence. I am careful but not chaste. I just hate what drugs do to people; I don’t even like to take prescription painkillers when I need them, and stop as soon as I don’t.
