Dopers with an early join date but low post count

I just assumed the bees were keeping you busy.

Gave up the hobby a few years ago. With all the bee diseases and mites, keeping bees is getting increasingly difficult and expensive.

Good to know. Consider yourself “whatever ”'d

What are you going on about then?
Seriously, we looked into beekeeping and bought some magazines. Just getting our feet wet would be a big step, so we haven’t pursued it.

I would’ve delurked to post that I mostly lurk because someone’s already said what I said, but someone already posted what I would have said. So now I’m stuck and in a loop. a loop. aloop.

Same here. I’m not concerned about being ignored, but I post infrequently enough that I figure most people don’t know who I am. This is post 1,504 for me.

I only have so much to say, so I have to spread it pretty thin.

Me too!

Charley answered for me in post #47.

I think I have a “somewhat” early join date, and a relatively low post count. As in real life, I prefer to listen rather than to talk, and like others, most of my posts have been in threads like this one (trivial stuff.) I just feel like I have nothing to add to most threads- there’s nothing interesting or unique about me, and I don’t have specialized knowledge about anything. Also, I hate getting into arguments with people and having to defend myself or my viewpoints.

Most of the time, I don’t even bother to log in (too much effort!) This is probably the first time I’ve logged in within the last year or two…

Pretty much all of this. ^

Maybe they are alto-egos …

I REMEMBER YOU* because folks here were worried that you may have perished in the 9/11 attacks.

See…not so anonymous afterall are ya!

I think you’re just about average. Within about the same general range as me.

Not trying to get into an argument or attack anyone but I don’t quite get this. The only time I’ve had to log in recently was when the board sw was updated. I think everyone had to do the same. Is this because Teaira is a guest?

Re: OP. Low post count, few years since joining. Thought I’d lay low and suss out the board culture - you know, reconnoiter - for a while first. (Okay, 15 years or so.)

Often when I re-read one of my posts, I find it didn’t add all that much. Odds are any more posts would add even less. I’ve gotten a little post-happy these last few years, which is getting my per-year post count higher than I’d like it to be. Time to dial it back a little.
Alternate answer: because I have a life. It consists of yelling at kids IRL to get off my lawn.

It’s just a cookie.

I’m not what I would consider a low post count (though I’m under a post per day average, as others have mentioned). But considering I’ve never taken a long leave of absence from the board - it’s been one of my top 5 visited sites since I joined 12 years ago - I think I’m less chatty than I could be. I also often feel like I wouldn’t be making a worthwhile/important enough post or that someone else already posted what I would say. But I also REALLY like just reading in depth discussions or complex debates to learn different viewpoints, arguments or information. I feel I most often can learn and absorb the most - with time for reflection - if I’m not participating, because a chunk of my focus would be on reading to figure out my response instead of just reading for understanding.

This thread would definitely be for me on the Television Without Pity forums, though! I still go there pretty regularly and have a whopping 46 posts since October 2002.

As mentioned, much has usually already been said, and better than I could say it.

Also, I like to read, and listen, more than talk. Two ears, one mouth, y’know. YMMV

Also, threads like this just make me like this place, even if I don’t really fit in with the cool kids…

Oh, and side note: also agree with scabpicker. I tend to be a threadkiller.
No idea why.
Which reminds me…

How, exactly, did Earthling do this???

Wow. I had never seen that thread. That was … that was …
Lobsang was right. There are no words.
