Who out there, in the netherland of the cyber-abyss, has a webpage?
I have one, in which I used for school, which is still active.
I would post it, but I’m unsure if I should…it has my real name  on it, and my resume , other than that, it’s a crappy page with lot’s of assignments on it…
Ah, but Meatros, I can get to your web page by simply viewing your profile, or clicking the “www” button under your posts. Just look at that escar go!
I’ve got a webpage that I built about 4 years ago. I tried to update it a bit, but it’s basically an uncompleted piece of garbage. I’m planning on putting together a whole new one soon though.
I had a web page for a couple of years and learned many valuable life lessons as a result. The main lesson: Don’t have a web page. It can only bring about misery, despair, stolen digital artwork, and quite possibly a disturbingly devoted admirer who won’t take “Leave me the @^#% alone!” at face value. Never again.
I have two webpages: one for filmmaking and one for jeeps. The latter can be reached from the former, which is linked in the button under this message.
I have one called Confusion Road, it’s sort of an Onion-style satirical thing, except for the part about being funny. Sadly, it’s been stale for a couple of months.
My opinion - having a personal webpage listing your real name only is not that bad. Listing your real name, address and phone number is riskier but still OK (though some people will probably caution you about identity theft and whatnot). Having a webpage that shows personal information, and providing a link to that webpage from a message board - Very Bad Idea, especially if you’re the type of person that posts personal information at the message board (e.g. I just slept with my boss’s wife today; I am cheating on my wife; I am going on vacation to Greece for three weeks) or you’re the type of person that picks fights with trolls.
No personal stuff on mine (well, if you look really, really carefully, you might be able to work out I live in Austalia).
You won’t be able to find my picture there either (but it is there, you just can’t find it (I hope)).
I think my age might be there too, but it’s probably out of date.
If you check very carefully by reading every single page, calculating the number of typos and bad grammer you can estimate the total outstanding debt on my Credit Card.
I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to identify my home suburb and I’m almost certain you can identify my real name through my email addy.
Actually, if you can work out my CC debt, please send me some money, 'cos that will be certain to help. http://www.caughtatwork.net
Mine’s here . Actually, that’s the “diary” part - updated most days. Rude comments about HK/China. Back on the home page, I also have categories for recipes, a few essays on various topics, the archives of a now-defunct website(someone else’s) and some other things.
It’s self-publishing, but there’s no personal glory as it’s anonymous. No way would I keep my job if I (or my boss) were linked with it - this is a small town with thin-skinned people.
Hard to say, but the diary seems to have a readership in 3 figures, which isn’t bad considering it’s of limited interest. Some of my ideas crop up in local English-language media later, which I find gratifying. If you worry about people stealing ideas, don’t post them.
My site is linked to right below. I had many more sites that I created and wrote for, but I kind of wore off the idea and just do designs for friends occasionally.
