When I try to pull up the SD on my phone, it always loads most of every page and then freezes for at least a minute. Sometimes it will pop up a box that says a script is slowing things down, and if I abort the script it will finish loading normally. This happens on every page. Is there any way around this?
Other forums with vBulletin have mobile editions; I don’t know if that is automatic in vBulletin or if it needs to be set up somehow. Is there any way to get a mobile version of the Dope on my phone?
What device are you using, most pda/smartphones will load the dope with no problems, the only problem i find with the iphone is no cut and paste, hence limited quoting. The only class of device that i have not used is the blackberry platform, which i am told had a horrible web browser, most folks had , i think, switched over to opera.
Beyond the pda platform, i dont think i have ever used a browser on an actual mobile phone like the razor, other than the wap browser.
Any way post what phone and browser your using and we can go from there.
I am not getting any javascript errors of any kind, but for what its worth, I am running windows mobile 6.0 not 6.1. Compared to the iPhone this phone is a clunker model T for internet browsing. I can cut and paste on it and i love the zoom mode, but it truncates stuff that i normally see, like the quick reply box at the bottom.
It may be that you should back up your phone with activesync and restore it to factory. Your issues may simply be on the phone end, is the dope the only problem forum your encountering.
I had exactly the same problem with Windows Mobile 5 on a (HTC) T-Mobile SDA. I’ve since dropped that phone in the toilet and can no longer access the SD at all, since my current phone doesn’t have a full browser.
Another iPhone user here who has not had the problems described in the OP.
The only drawback I’ve found is that I can’t select and highlight text, so no spoiler box satisfaction for me. I’ll have a lot of punchlines to look up when I unpack my desktop pc!
Opera mini seems to have solved the problem, along with some others. God, IE is a piece of shit next to this! I don’t know why that surprises me but it does. I would have expected Opera to be a little better, but this is ridiculous.
I do pretty well with my Treo 700p (I know, I’m one of about nineteen people in the country who have one, so FWIW…) The biggest limitation is that you can’t have more than one page loaded at a time, plus you have to do your cut/pasting on half of a 3" screen. This presents major hassles with sites other than SDMB (hellooo, Flickr?). But otherwise it’s pretty okay.
I get the same problem on my O2 Diamond (Win 6.1, IE), but I assumed that it was just a generic error message meaning that it was a big page loading, and will take a while. I’ve had it on other pages too, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference if I keep running the scripts or not, the page takes a while to load and looks correct…
